Acrobat Pro DC - paste in place / paste to same location?

In Acrobat Pro DC, is there a way to paste an object to the exact same location on a different page? This was a feature in a previous version of Acrobat, but I can longer get it to work in DC. The online help does not provide any answer. Others have suggested to use Ctrl+Shift+V, but it does not work for me.

Yes I read it. And it feels that we are explaining to the customer the same thing in different words.

I don't know if when you say paste in place you're referring to the action of a selected group of comments that are copied and pasted altogether in another page, but as Document_Geek explained in another thread, the comments will just paste around the center of the page. You still have to move them manually by dragging the group of comments to where you want them in the page.

What we are trying to achieve is to copy a group of selected comments and when you paste them in another page that they will paste exactly in the same location as they're laid out in the original page.

To be specific, we are trying to paste the comments in the exact same location on every page that you copy them, just like you would use the "Duplicate Accross Pages" feature for other form field objects with the Prepare Form tool.

Unless I am doing something entirely wickedly wrong, the method you are describing copies an array of comments "in place" meaning that they're copied in the same position in relation to each other, and therefore will paste in the same position in relation to each other; not in relation to the position they're in relation to the page (not each other).

So, your answer doesn't explain how can you get that array of copied comments pasted to the same grid location automatically in another page.

I'm frequently face with the same problem. Copy-paste in place for comments would be a great addition and useful tool. I use Acrobat daily and it sure is'nt there to help me save time. It seems every time a tool would be useful, either it doesn't exist or it is hidden so far in an obscure menu you have to search for hours to find the right way. It's so complicated we end up doing it manualy. What use is a computer if it can't process and accelerate the workflow easily?

Enfocus PitStop plug-in allows for a preference change in Edit to paste copied objects at a horizontal and vertical offset of "0"... not sure within Acrobat itself, sorry.

Welcome in Acrobat's UI wonderland! (bis).

You have to use the Black Arrow tool, which is in the Prepare Form tools.
It can select multiple comments at once, and it Paste in place by default.

JR_Boulay Thanks, but unfortunately this does not work. When I use the black selection arrow from the Prepare Forms tool set, it can only multiple select comments. It doesn't come with its own copy and paste functions, so I would just end up using the regular copy and paste function, in which pasting the copied comment objects will neither paste to the exact same location on the destination page, nor maintain their relative spacing with one another.

To paste form fields in place: Shift + clic in the Edit menu: Paste

This method doesn't work for the comment boxes and comment sticky notes.

I believe that is what the user clarified in its last reply.

There is no feature in Acrobat that allows pasting in place the selected comment boxes or sticky notes in a different page.

Yes , right-click on the form field object, and select from the context menu "Duplicate Accross Pages"

@ls_rbls Thank you for the tip about form field objects, though it appears to only work for form fields.

I have also learned about pasting regular objects to the same position using "Edit Object" from the Print Production tool set.

I was actually looking for a way to paste comment objects, and there still appears to be no way to do that.

You're right, there's not a way to copy and paste comment text boxes and comment sticky notes in the same manner as you would with form fields, text and image objects.

The main reason is because comments are part of the share and review workflow in Acrobat.

As such they are meant as a tool for a the reviewing user(s) to add comments on the fly as part of the workflow that takes place when a review process is in progress.

It is basically a tool that literally allows a full conversation amongst many users who are continuously submitting suggestions via comments before the final work is approved by the PDF originator.

The cool thing about Acrobat is that you can always explore with your own intuitive ways of making things work for you.

What I do in this case, is to set the view of my document to two pages side by side, and also enable rulers and grids, and make the cursor coordinates visible.

Use the Prepare Form tool and just select your comment sticky notes, for example, in the same way as you would use a combination of mouse and keyboard gesture.

By pressing the Ctrl key, and keeping it pressed while you point on your comment objects, click with the left mouse button to select each one.

OR, if they are grouped close in proximity just press the left mouse button and dragg the mouse around the area of these comments to select all of them at once. You will notice the frame around the comments box or sticky note will turn into a dark blue color indicating it has been highlighted and ready for copying.

Right-click on these selections, and from the context menu select Edit, then select Copy to copy your desired selection.

Paste your selection anywhere in the next page; comment objects will have a tendency to paste in the center of the pag, so you will have to manually position them where you want them in that page.

With the visual aid of the rulers, the grid, and mouse coordinates, you can then dragg the grouped selection of comments to an exact location like they appear in the original page where you copied them from.
