Adobe Acrobat 2020 Perpetual license “PDF barcode form fields” feature

Wish to confirm, is this applicable to Adobe Acrobat 2020 Perpetual license?

Does it mean that “LiveCycle Barcoded Forms Decoder” is required to be purchased separately to decode the information?

It only applies to Reader. Acrobat can decode (ie. display) barcode values even without this special right. Reader can not.

For barcodes forms you'll need to add additional rights to that PDF.

Those rights can only be added by Adobe Reader Extension Server (ARES) which is part of the AEM Forms server.

It's quite expensive and only available for larger enterprises, I'm afraid.

Here's a kind of workaround.

It uses scriptings to create a QR or PDF417 code from the forms data.
