Adobe Acrobat Pro DC crashes when I combine PDF's

New Here ,
Jun 17, 2015 Jun 17, 2015

I recently installed Adobe Acrobat Pro DC on my computer and every time I try to combine PDF's it says that Adobe has stopped working and crashes. I have uninstalled and reinstalled, I have done all windows updates, I ran the Adobe Acrobat cleanup tool, and all of the Adobe updates are up to date. This issue is extremely annoying and it really hinders my work, as I constantly need to combine PDF's (sometimes multiple thousands of pages). This has never been a problem in the past until about 2 weeks ago. I appreciate any and all help!

Workaround:

My document was 122 pages in .pdf format

I exported the crashing pdf document to MS Word within Acrobat Pro DC.

Exported .doc launched in Word for Mac 2016

Saved exported .doc to pdf in Word or Mac 2016

Opened pdf in Acrobat Pro DC.

Added blank page without the document / application crashing.

Hey sasha.98265694,

We would love to help you.

Could you please let me know what exact version of OS you are using.

Also, tell me your workflow of combining the PDF files. If you are combining files using "File > Create > Combine files into a Single PDF", then try using Insert from file option under "Tools > Organize Pages > Insert"

Let me know if that works fine or not.

Regards,

Anubha

I am having same problems. I just purchased ADOBE DC and am unable to combine files into a single PDF.

Adobe keeps crashing when I try. Windows 10 is my OS and is up to date. I have used the "File > Create > Combine files into a Single PDF" program crashes. I have also the short cut to get to the same place.

Also adobe is not recognizing "MS Word 2016: files for conversation to PDF.

Please assist.

Thanks

While Adobe is working on this KNOWN issue, the work around is not viable. I bought this software to convert hundreds of word files into PDF WITHOUT having to open each and everyone to convert to PDF.

Hi

Problem is due to a bug in the last update to Office 2016 / Office 365.

Microsoft fixed that bug and March 4, 2016 update which fixes the crashes.

Thanks

Tanvi

Hi

Please share your Office version and Acrobat version.

Also, check if you are able to create PDF from Word/Excel/Powerpoint applications via Acrobat PDFMaker ribbon.

Thanks

Hi

There is a new update for Office 2016. Please update to it and then try.

If issue still persists, let us know if the crash happens for any Word files or some specific set of Word files?

Thanks

Tanvi

The March 5th update for Office 365 has yet to become available. I keep trying to manually update, but Office states up to date. Last update received was February.

Having the same issues -- since the most recent update with creative cloud, constantly crash when I try to combine documents; very alarming given the importance of this feature. Any updates on the fix?!

I found an old version of Acrobat Professional and thankfully it works fine, Combined all my high-res pdfs without any problem whatsoever. So why can't Acrobat DC do this? Where's the update?

Adobe Acrobat Pro DC crashes when combining pdf's.

It just started doing this a few days ago.

I have repaired the install.

I have re-installed and it keeps doing this.

Is there an update or patch

I'm having the same problem. I installed Acrobat Pro 9 to my new Macbook Pro, and Acrobat crashes every time I try to combine PDF files. Any suggestions on how to fix this problem?

I'm having the same issue. I am trying to insert blank pages using the add   icon within the organize pages function of Acrobat DC into a 122 page pdf document. The strange thing in this is that i've already edited this document adding blank pages in Acrobat DC and didn't have an issue with added pages until recently. The last time I worked with this same file was around March 2016.

Something that I noticed in uninstalling Acrobat DC is that unlike other CC apps, DC doesn't ask if you'd like to delete or keep the application preference file. Could there be a preference file in the Library directory that needs to be manually removed before and or after reinstalling the software?
