Question

Adobe Acrobat Pro DC - Right click "Combine files in acrobat..." not functioning as intended

Hello,

I recently had all my outdated programs updated by my wonderful IT department who like to make us use the latest and greatest software even though older versions work perfectly.

The "combine files in acrobat" function no longer works with the new Adobe Acrobat Pro DC. It just opens me up to the recently opened items. Is there an option in the preferences that I need to have checked?

I use this function multiple times a day to view multiple PDFs as a single file.

Before the update, I simply selected the files in explorer I wanted to view, right click, select the "combine files in acrobat" option. Adobe would open up a dialog box with all the pdfs I just selected. I then press the combine button and within 5-10 seconds or so the combined pdf opens up.

Now it does not work.

Please advise.

Hi Brysoncorley

We are sorry for the trouble and the delay in response. I hope you would be able to fix it by now. If the problem still persists, is this a behavior with a particular file or with all the files that you try to combine? Please try with a different file and check. If its a file specific issue please share the file with us for testing. Please upload the file on the document cloud (https://documentcloud.adobe.com/link/home/) generate the link and share the link with us.

Are you getting any error message or code while combining if yes, please share the screenshot of the for a better understanding?

Please update the application to the new version 20.006.20034 available. Please go to Help > Check for Updates. For more information please use the link (https://www.adobe.com/devnet-docs/acrobatetk/tools/ReleaseNotesDC/index.html)

If it still doesn't work, please try the following steps:

Let us know how it goes.

Regards

I am having the same problem when trying to combine multiple pdfs: Adobe tries to combine from my "recent files" instead of using the files I had selected. I can work around the problem by choosing File > Create >

I am using Adobe Acrobat Pro DC version 22.001.20085.0 (IT just upgraded me from an older 2015 version of Adobe Acrobat to this version about 2 weeks ago . . . prior to that, the older version always worked just fine to combine files).

  My OS is:

Edition Windows 10 Business
Version 21H2
Installed on ‎11/‎4/‎2021
OS build 19044.1586
Experience Windows Feature Experience Pack 120.2212.4170.0

I use this feature numerous times every day, which made my "upgrade" is super frustrating. Users have been reporting this problem for at least two years. Is there really no solution?

Hi there

We are sorry to hear that.

Please try to repair the installation from the help menu (Win Only) and reboot the computer once and check.

Also, try to reset the Acrobat preferences as described here https://community.adobe.com/t5/acrobat-discussions/how-to-reset-acrobat-preference-settings-to-default/td-p/4792082

You may also try to create a new test user profile with full admin rights in Win and try using the application there and check.

Regards

Amal
