Adobe fonts not printing in windows XP Pro SP3

G'day Folks,

Trying to print PDF documents on my system 03 = Windows XP Pro SP3, it prints goodledi gob. i.e. does not print recognizable characters.

is there a fix for this please ?

I have another XP Pro SP3 (System 04) on which all the PDF documents and fonts print correctly, if this could be used to fix the PDF font issue on System 03 ?

OK your question: Why am I still using XP Pro SP3 ? and the answer is that I run all or most of the Windows OS's up to Windows 10 Pro for support purposes for my older Users that still run older OS's like XP  and I use both System 03 and 04 with TeamVieweer (remote computer control) to help fix their problems, For Senior Citizens (Aged Pensioners 65 years and over) I do this for free !!!

I am a retired Techie, not yet retired at 77 (Will consider retiring when I am 96 years of age ☺)

OK enough of the trivia, Does anyone have a solution for mi issue "Adobe fonts not printing in windows XP Pro SP3" on system 03 please ?

Regards

If worst comes to worst then you should be able to print a PDF as image (under advanced options is the checkbox for that).

Also check the printer driver options. Are you trying to send as a postscript level 3 to a postscript level 2 driver, or postscript to a PCL driver? Can you successfully print from other applications from that computer? If not check your printer driver and get back with more details.

Sorry we aren’t magicians. You assume the problem is well known and that it has a single cause and solution. You haven’t even told us your printer! As a problem solver you’ll know it isn’t always that simple, and “try upgrading to see if it goes away” is often the first reply. Good luck with avoiding such chit chat. I will try to avoid trying to help you in future but can’t promise anything.

Great! I love that!

PC-Bug Fixer -  we are volunteers and Mr MVP is quite one of the best (therefore MVP).

The best answer I can give you is to update your systems (you support) to the latest supported software version. Especially XP is a dangerous game you play with your old folk.

Second best advice is that you try to find out what the difference is between the system that works and the system that does not.

BTW: If you do not have time for chat, why don't you answer Lukas Engqvist's question/suggestion? Are you able to print as image?

BTW2: If you do not have time to chat, why do you give information that does not relate to your problem and does not help anyone to help you to solve your problem.

BTW3: I live in a house! ;-)

Don't get your knickers in a knot.

First: So you also claim to be an "Adobe Communication Professional" or "Adobe Community Professional" and I did not refer to that ? like I said "Don't get your knickers in a knot." and all I can say to that is that your reply is rather childish and not in the least Professional !!!

Second: Your second item is the most idiotic solution I have ever heard of. It is obvious that a comparison is one of the first checks that I would have performed and in the possible combinations of altering preferences and other items  is not feasible to attempt a correction when in fact the "Fonts on the system are corrupt" got the message. Besides I referred to the other system in my original post, "I have another XP Pro SP3 (System 04) on which all the PDF documents and fonts print correctly, if this could be used to fix the PDF font issue on System 03 ?" and understanding XP systems with adobe installations attempting to copy any parameters from system 04 to System 03 is useless when the fonts are corrupt. Further to re-install fonts they need to be un-installed first before they can be re-installed on XP OS's, or did you miss that and, Don't bother to reply !

Third: You must be a Novice in thinking that Hackers are looking for and targeting XP systems.

Then we have BitDefender Internet Security or BitDefender Total Security installed on our and Customers PC's. As an Agent for BitDefender products I should know how to install BD on an XP system. There are of course other Internet Security Products that still support XP OS's preventing intrusions to the Users Computer on any MS OS's !

I can see that no one has a solution and are rather interested in trivia and nitpicking my posts rather than addressing the issue.

I cannot say Thanks to anyone as so far no one has fixed the problem.

First: I’m getting sometimes sarcastic with discussions like this. Take it as that.

Second: your resistance from the start on to consider solutions does not help you with your problem.

Third: I have 30+ years of experience with computer systems.

Forth: We can only make suggestions not solve user’s problems.

And last: I wish you a happy new year.

Well if software has a bug the version of software is very relevant, as it might be fixed in a later version.

G'day MVP,

Again thanks for the chat, however I don't have time for chats, I need a definitive answer, i.e. fix for the corrupt pdf fonts.

I also use Adobe Reader XI version 11.0.13 and Adobe Acrobat Pro Extended version 9.0.0 on System 04 also have Adobe Acrobat X v10.1.1 on other systems and they have no issues printing pdf documents with displaying the pdf fonts correctly, so it ain't a software bug !!!

MVP, unless you have a fix to correct the pdf fonts on System 03, kindly do not reply further.

- Thanks

You must be running older Adobe software to work on XP. So, exactly what version are you running? Please look under the Help > About Adobe Reader Menu. On both systems.

G'day MVP,

Thanks for asking and the answer is; Adobe Reader XI version 11.0.13 can also use Adobe Acrobat X version 10.1.1

However I don't understand what that has to do with the corrupt pdf fonts ?
