If you open PDF files from within the Adobe internal file explorer the files will not show up under “recent files” when you try to attach in Outlook. In outlook when you click “insert”, “Attach File” then look under “Recent Items” the list shows all recently opened items EXCEPT pdf’s. (All PDF’s are missing) This issue was a problem a couple of years ago but this seems to be a very recent change or issue.
Cause (as I’ve identified it)
If you open the PDF using windows explorer instead the files do appear in the recent file list. (see below)
After opening from Windows Explorer the file shows up in recent items list

Ermygherd it's finally fixed! Thank you Adobe, that was a month of pure annoyance.
Now, can you please focus your attention to the One Adobe Acrobat file with two taskbar items that has gone on for years, now?

So I just updated to 2025.001.20744
I don't know yet if this has fixed the Recent Item issue but I can say that immediately my PDF's are not printing complete pages. Partial prints at best. WTHeck??? Has anyone else run into this?

Let me clarify; scanned to PDF doc's are not printing. Regular PDF's are fine.

Similar issue when creating PDFs from the scanner (within Adobe). Still not showing in the Attachment List in Outlook.
Other PDFs are working fine.

We have had Acrobat pro since 2017pro and 2020pro. This was never a problem. We were recently forced out of perpetual licenses and moved onto the Enterprise subscription licensing. Ever since this we are having the same issue. The second to last pdf will show in recent items, but not the most recent. This functionality works for ALL other saved programs .xlsx, .docx, etc. We are running Acrobat 25.001.20756. I have followed all of the advice to no avail. Is there going to be an update beyond 20756 that resolves this? We paid a LOT of money for many licenses on a monthly rate only to lose funtionality. Please advise.

As soon as I was at 25.001.20756 and restarted my computer, the recent files issue was completely resolved.
Try restarting and see if that fixes the issue for you.

Unfortunately I have been on this version several days with shut downs each night. No fix for us.

For the updates to work for me, I had to run updates, repair installation, and run more updates. It also took multiple attemps to get the updates to run without patch errors, but they eventually ran. Top it off with a restart, and the issue has been resolved for me. Hope this might be helpful!

I have actually had this same issue at work. I send a ton of emails daily and this has made work productivity very slow. I can still look up the pdf from my files by searching this PC but other than that, the recent pdf files no longer exist on the drop down menu for attaching a file on Outlook. It seems it has been since the Adobe update, I manually updated Adobe and ever since this issue has persisted with no changes as of 9-3-25.

Good Morning All
i feel so relived that i am not the only person experiencing this issue. Its started about a week or two ago.
funny part is my colleague and i share a licence. we currently both on v25.1 and we use MS OFF365 Outlook version 2508, but he can see and attach most recent files from the Outlook drop down attach a file feature. All other information is exactly how the others have describe their issue.
On a second note- the file does show up if i have opened it seperatley before doing the whle attach a file process. but previously and for the last 30 years of using Adobe it always showed up in the drop down as soon as i ssave the file to our work server. no need to have opened the document.
it seems like my network drive is not syncing with Windiws explorer. wonder if that is possible?

With the way you describe it it sounds like a user appdata issue, I wonder if you fully remove adobe from the device or wipe the os and reinstall adobe if it fixes it

Hi Hello
Fellow Adobe Users experiencing the same problem.
I found a small fix to help a little.
As soon as you save the file, before closing it, go to menu, then windows and open in new window.
This then shows up in the recent drop down files making it a little easier to attach as quick as possible.
Until Adobe finds a resolve
