Adobe PDF / Scroll bars still missing

I've looked at all the posts and their answers. It's very frustrating. I've done all the suggestions. Still no scrollbar. If I adjust the page size manually -- pull it in or out -- the bars appear for a few seconds then disappear. I can't grab them.

I cannot scroll up/down or side to side. Mac Ventura. Acrobat Pro version 2023.006.20320

Any other ideas or will there be an update to fix?

Finaly fixed in the latest February update!

There is a new Preference under Page Display: Always show Scroll bars!

And also set the preference to Enable scrolling under Page Display, Page Layout, and the we are finally(!) good to go!

Thanks for the work you did with this.

The thing is, when I view a document like your 2-page doc, I don't have the scroll bar. But I guess this is because you have continuous scrolling enabled, and not single page view.

The help article only mentions horizontal scrolling (and a very un-intuitive method it is!). I seem to have good company in being unable to see or access the *vertical* scroll bars anymore, in a PDF. How can I regain this obviously useful capability?

Go back to the 2020 version (I think there's a link to it in this thread somewhere; alas I don't remember how I did it). And join us all in waiting for Adobe to be less benighted.

dear Amal,

I have the most up to date version of Acrobat and there is still no way to see or use the vertical scroll bar. None of the new updates address this. It's making it nearly impossible to extract pages and makes the user experience very frustrating. Is there any way just to get a regular scroll bar back?

thanks,

Megan

Downgrade to Acrobat 2020 and the scrollbars will come back just the way they should be.

EVERY time there is an update it seems to make things "slicker" by hiding neccessary components.  Did anyone on the "Make This Slick" team check with actual USERS of the product.  The missing scrollbars, the inability to add the Pan as a tool always visible... FRUSTRATING.  I don't want to have to read an article or do a 15 minute Google search because some designer thought eliminating useful tools was a good idea.

It is not responsive. It wastes hours a day for those of us who work in pdfs daily. A scroll bar doesn't take up excessive space. This is ridiculous. Please put the scrollbar back on the page.

Hello Amal,

Is there any new information about the functionality of the scroll bars in Adobe Acrobat? Numerous posts on this forum have complained bitterly about this perceived dysfunction. And they are certainly just the tip of the iceberg. I haven't read a single post that supports this change.
Does Adobe intend to restore functional scroll bars, or not?

If you are on Mac with OS Ventura, that is the problem. Go to System Settings, Appearance. You will see Show scroll bars. It will probably be clicked on Always, but its not working. Turn it to when scrolling, then turn it back to Always. This then made all my scroll bars reappear.

Do what sherler suggested and install the 2020 version. That's working. I turned off all auto updating as well.

I downloaded the 2020 version but can not install it as I do not have a current serial number. My number from CS5 does not work, so I guess I am out of luck!

Simines, I ran into that also, but then saw the option to use Creative Cloud or something like that. In the same window that asks for your serial number, the other option is there, which is the one to choose. It uses your CC license and then it will install.

It's not just a MacOS Ventura problem. I'm on Big Sur and the problem exists. It's the Acrobat latest version that is solely responsible for the problem. No system or Acrobat settings fix it.

Just realized that this "fixed" the problem only once. Every new document still has the same problem. Not really fixed. Adobe: need to fix this NOW!

Yes! Now that you mention it, I think all this occured after an update. I've followed your suggestion, but no scroll bars. Maybe on restart, we'll see.

Thanks Adobe! Always a pleasure. You know what's best for us.

This last post looks like a scam response from an Adobe employee. Adobe should not be posting responses to try to "help" it's public image within a real discussion about the malfunctions and flaws it continues to generate. Adobe - clearly - does not understand "what's best for us" and is far from a pleasure to deal with. Shame on you Adobe, yet again.

This is not a scam response. This is Nathan at Butler University trying to do my job using an Adobe product with yet another flaw. "Pleasure" and "Best for us" are fecitious comments meant for anyone with a sense of humor.

I suppose my sense of humor has loooong since run out with Adobe. It ran out at the end of CS 6.2 when we could no longer own our tools. Apologies for jumping on you.
