Question

Adobe Pro DC High Contrast Viewing

I have trouble viewing the standard white background with black text. But when I use preferences on a document to change to either high contrast view or my own color scheme (black background/white text) the document has white horizontal lines all throughout that make reading it impossible. Has anyone run into this situation or does anyone have a solution?

Windows 10

Adobe Pro DC

Hi mbrentskinner

We are sorry for the trouble. As described, the document has white horizontal lines all throughout that make reading it impossible.

Is this a behavior with a particular PDF file or with all the PDFs? Please try with a different PDF file and check. If its a file specific issue please share the file with us for testing. Upload the file to the document cloud (https://documentcloud.adobe.com/link/home/) generate the link and share it with us.

Also, please share the screenshot of the issue for a better understanding.

What is the version of the Adobe Acrobat/ Reader DC you are using? To check the version of the application go to Help > About Adobe Acrobat/Reader DC
Make sure you have the latest version of the application 20.006.20042 installed. Go to Help > Check for updates

If it still doesn't work, please try to repair the installation (For Windows Only) from the help menu and repairing the installation. Also, try to turn off the protected mode for testing. Go to Edit (Windows), Adobe Acrobat/Reader DC (Mac) > Preferences > Enhanced Security > Turn off the protected mode and uncheck the enhanced security > Click ok and see if that helps.
Note: Please urn on the security after testing.

You may also try to reset the preferences to default as described in the link (https://community.adobe.com/t5/acrobat/how-to-reset-acrobat-preference-settings-to-default/td-p/4792082) and see if that works.

If it still doesn't work

Let us know how it goes

Hi Amal,

I have exactly the same issue as the user described.

I use Adobe Acrobat Pro DC 2015 Release (Continuous)|version 2015.020.20039. I use user high-contrast colors (green text on black) setting in the accessibility of preference within edit tap. A lot of white horizontal lines appear in the pdf document.

This issue occurs for all word-like PDF documents. However, for PPT-like PDF documents, this issue does not occur.

I had given up on this issue for a while until I got notification of this new user having the same problem.

I agree that it is not a specific document issue. It does not occur to me whether it is an issue only with PDFs created from word, but I do a lot of such work so it is certainly possible. I don't think I ever tried all of the fixes suggested above, so I am going to do that today and see what happens.
