Question

Cannot input Mandarin in Adobe Pro DC MasOS version of Fill and Sign tool

I can not seem to input Mandarin when I use the Fill and Sign tool in Acrobat Pro DC (MacOS Monterey 12.0.1). I can only input English. I distinctly recall I used to be able to. I tried the online version and seem to be able to input Mandarin. Just the MacOS application seems to be giving me problem.

Same problem, cannot input Mandarin using the Fill & Sign tool. My OS and default language is English, I have installed all the font packages as recommended. None of your proposed solutions work @Amal. I have to go to Edit to input Mandarin which is not nearly as easy to do when trying to fill in a form. Problem has been like this for awhile. Not what I expect from a professional company

I had the same issue, none of the suggestions made by the support team works.

The issue is with the software, apparently the dev team broke the software.

They need to release an update to fix the bug.

Hi there

We are sorry to hear that.

Would you mind sharing the version of the OS and the Acrobat/Reader DC you are using? To check the version go to Help > About Acrobat and make sure you have the recent version 22.1.20142 installed. Go to Help > Check for updates and reboot the computer once.

You may also try to reset the Acrobat preferences as described here https://community.adobe.com/t5/acrobat-discussions/how-to-reset-acrobat-preference-settings-to-default/td-p/4792082

Also try to create a new test user profile with full admin rights in Win or enable the root account in MAC and try using the application there and check.

Holy Moly!! Can you find a solution already? It's a year later and all you do is tell everyone to reinstall and create a test user profile?! It's almost 2023, the problem is that Chinese font cannot be displayed. Can we get a solution please? Somehow Adobe has to figure these things out, right?

Hello @Amal. and everyone,

I have the same problem and found this thread. The Chinese characters just won’t appear in the text box. It wasn’t like that in the previous versions (sorry I can’t recall what version was that!)

My curent version: Adobe Acrobat Pro DC 2022.001.20085
OS version: macOS Big Sur 11.6

I have attached here 2 videos – one with what is happening on Acrobat, and the other of me typing on Google’s search box for reference.

Hi @Amal. ,

I tried the font pack but the installation failed.

I just noticed my Acrobat version has been updated from 2022.001.20085 to 2022.001.20112, probably done so  automatically by my Adobe Creative Cloud app (as I have not touched it at all). I downloaded the “DC 2022.x” font pack anyway, but when I tried to install it, it says:

“Adobe Acrobat Reader DC 22.1.20085 or later must be installed before proceeding with this installation”.

Apparently my Acrobat has superceded this version?

Attached are screenshots of installation fail message, Acrobat about info, and my Creative Cloud App update page.

I guess a newer font pack is due to come out? Please let me know what I should do. Thanks!

Hi there

Hope you are doing well and sorry for the trouble.

Would you mind sharing the build and the version number of Adobe Acrobat DC you are using? To check the version go to Help > About Acrobat and make sure you have the recent version 21.07.20099 installed. Go to Help > Check for updates and reboot the computer once.

If you are using the 64 bit version of the application, try to download the font pack https://helpx.adobe.com/acrobat/kb/font-pack-spelling-dictionary-64-bit-windows.html and see if that helps.

Hi Tan,

Sorry to keep you waiting, would you mind sharing the version of the Acrobat DC and the OS you are using?  Also make sure that the fonts are installed on the computer and go to Adobe Acrobat > Preferences > Page Display >Under Rendering, check 'Use local fonts'  > Click OK.

If it still doesn't work, please share the PDF file in question, a small video recording of the issue and the Adobe CC logs https://helpx.adobe.com/creative-cloud/kb/cc-log-collector.html and share them with us via document cloud as described here https://helpx.adobe.com/document-cloud/help/sharing-pdfs.html
