Cannot perform Simplified Chinese OCR on desktop

Whenever I try to perform OCR recognition on a scanned Simplified Chinese document on Adobe Acrobat Pro desktop, an error message pops up: Acrobat could not perform Text Recognition on this page because: Unknown error (see uploaded screenshot). The scanning quality is high. English documents scanned in the same way can be easily recognized through OCR. Meanwhile, the simplified Chinese OCR works fine on Android App.

When performing Simplified Chinese OCR recognition on the Android app, the app prompts me to download the Simplified Chinese language pack. However, there is no such prompt on the desktop software. I'm not sure if the problem is due to the lack of the language pack. But I've searched through preferences settings and haven't found the place to download the OCR language pack.

- Environment: Windows 11, Adobe Acrobat Pro (Continuous Release 2025.001.20435 64-bit)

@pnzwAhde This is likely a software issue, possibly a bug or a missing language library that the application needs to perform the recognition. There was a recent update again that may solve your issue (March 19th) . Try that out first 

Version 25.001.2043x (March 19, 2025).

• Windows: DC Continuous 25.001.20435
• Mac: DC Continuous 25.001.20438

Update: I installed the Simplified Chinese interface language by modify the installation, but the problem still persists. Even with the Chinese interface, it is unable to perform OCR recognition on Chinese text.

Sorry for the troubled experience and the delayed response.

I hope you have already found an answer to this problem. If not, could you check if the issue persists with another file?

This post solved my issue: Solved: OCR not working with Japanese and Chinese but OK w... - Adobe Community - 13188072. The problem can be solved by installing optional components in "preferences". Obviously, this is a bug affceting all non-latin language OCR. Those optional components should be installed by default. You can reproduce the bug using my attachment. Hope it get fixed.

Even if those components are not installed by default, there should be a prompt indicating that these optional components need to be downloaded, instead of reporting an "unknown error".
