Compare fails after ~25 pages, app freezes

Hoping to compare two versions of a ~115 page / 2.5 MB document. Even when comparing text only, the process fails after around 25 pages and an error message pops up saying "Adobe could not compare the documents completely. Do you want to see the report anyway?" Viewing the incomplete report causes the app to freeze after a few minutes.

 

Is this the result of a page or change limit? I could split the document into 4-5 smaller sections and run multiple compares, but I would prefer to have one cohesive comparison report.__PRESENT

Hope you are doing well and thanks for reaching out.

 

Is this an issue with a particular set of PDF files or with all the PDFs that you try to compare? Please try with a different set of PDF files and see if that works 

 

What is the version of the Acrobat application and the OS you are using? Go to Help > About Acrobat and make sure its updated to the latest version 25.01.20458. Go to Help > Check for updates and reboot the device once.

 

The error "Acrobat could not compare the documents completely" in Adobe Acrobat often arises from issues with document security or file corruption. Please try to turn off the protected mode for testing. Go to Preferences (Ctrl,Cmd+K) > Enhanced Security > Uncheck 'Enable protected mode at statup' and 'Turn off protected mode' > Click OK and reboot the device.
Note: Please turn on the security settings after testing to avoid any security issues.

 

Also as a workaround, try to "print - save as PDF" once it is saved, try comparing the newly created files and see if that helps.

This was an issue with a particular set of files. The security settings you mentioned had not been used, but printing to pdf & comparing the flat versions did the trick. Thank you!
