Question

Form field property changes won't save

I created a form and after some trial and error got most of it figured out. However, now I found a few of the fields that need to be changed from date to text or vice versa. I make the changes and save the document, but the changes don't stay. I've also noticed that the "Close" button and "Locked" check box also keep disappering from the bottom of the window. How do I fix this?

Hi @Heather31650637b4qk

Hope you are doing well and sorry to hear that

Is this an issue with a particular PDF file or with all the PDFs? Please try with a different PDF file and check. If the file is stored on a shared network/drive please download it to your computer locally and then try again.

What is the version of the Acrobat DC you are using? To check the version go to Help > About Acrobat and make sure you have the recent version 23.03.20269 installed. Go to Help > Check for updates and reboot the computer once.

Also try to repair the installation from the help menu (Win Only) and see if that works.

Please try to reset the Acrobat preferences as described here https://community.adobe.com/t5/acrobat-discussions/how-to-reset-acrobat-preference-settings-to-default/td-p/4792082 and see if that works.

Let us know how it goes

Hello, Thanks for taking the time.

I've only made one form as I am still learning how to do it. I did transfer the file to another computer and am still having the same problem. On another form I've started, it seems to be hit and miss whether the settings stay or not if I try to change them.

In the format tab of the properties box, most of the time the "Close" button and "Locked" check box don't even appear, and when they do, as soon as I make a change, they disappear.

I checked for updates and am using the most recent version. I restarted both computers and tried the "repair the installation". And tried resetting the preferences as described above. Still not functioning properly.

H there

If it still doesn't work, please remove the application using the Acrobat cleaner tool https://www.adobe.com/devnet-docs/acrobatetk/tools/Labs/cleaner.html  , reboot the computer once and reinstall the application using the direct link
