Graphics and Figures create ALT+TEXT "gibberish" when converting to PDF

Over the past week or so, my editors have discovered a new condition; when an Office 365 graphic or figure is included in a PDF, the ALT+TEXT generated is a gibberish string. Even when NO ALT+TEXT is specified, the gibberish string appears in the ALT+TEXT of the PDF. The string is 

 

P2#yIS1

 

Until last week, things were working as intended. There was an Office Update and a CC update, but we have verified that this "broke" BEFORE the Office Update was installed. 

 

Any ideas?

An Adobe engineer just posted in other thread the instructions for rolling back to a previous version of Acrobat.

Adobe works on the voting system: the more votes a bug or feature gets, the faster it moves up in the food chain. Posting in this forum doesn't give it much traction, but UserVoice does.

 

And please inform your colleagues and encourage them to vote as well.

Some people have reported getting the gibberish since early September, but most within the past week.
