Have restart PDFs in Acrobate 2 times to read

Hi

Im have an issue after the latest updates now in december 2023 (Version: 23.8.20421.0 Created (datum): 2023/12/08). The file dont crach when opened. But if I do copy the title of the file (in order to paste this copied text as a new title in the "Outlook" - replacing a numerical title for instans with plain text) and the close the PDF it hangs and state that the file dont answer - but a few seconds later it works so that it could be read again.

When opened a second time though the very same file works perfect! Very annoying!

My question is now: what's going on? (I dont have any issue with my computer - I have checked carefully - and I have tried all the suggestions I have found on Adobe's helppage., invane.)

Could I install "Reader" instead? (If so: could I somehow turn off "Adobe Acrobat" temporarily because I have no trouble when I use other computers I have and where I dont have "Acroba" installed?)

Greetings From Mike in Sweden!

Hi @mikaelt43136794

Hope you are doing well and thanks for reaching out.

As you have the latest version of the Acrobat, please try to repair the installation from the help menu (Win Only) and reboot the computer once and see if that works.

You may also try to reset the Acrobat preferences as described here https://community.adobe.com/t5/acrobat-discussions/how-to-reset-acrobat-preference-settings-to-default/td-p/4792082 and check.

Hi dear Amal!

I have tried all that possibly could work already. And lo and behold the PDF files works (now) fine with some exceptions. (I use some extrordinary big files when I do mathematics, such as Jong 'Stacks Projects' for mentioning one, and it seems that it could be related to files above 1 GB. So, I have been splitting these big up in several smaller ones. And that helped somewhat.)

But some issues still remains - for instance when I have been working a lot with different materials. It seems as if the latest version demands more from the CPU. But I have been using a new machine where "Acrobat" is not installed and instead only "Adobe Reader" is installed - and that worked much better and faster. Completely without the restart issue and slowing down the Windows.

Thanks for your kind answer anyhow! And Greetings from Mike in Sweden!

Hi there,

Please go to Preferences (Ctrl,Cmd+K) > Page Display > Under Rendering, Uncheck 'Use page cache' > Click OK and reboot the application and check.

Also, the 64-bit application is a unified application for Acrobat and Acrobat Reader. If you have installed Acrobat Reader 64-bit and you purchase an Acrobat subscription, the Acrobat Reader 64-bit application will upgrade to become a fully functional Acrobat 64-bit application https://helpx.adobe.com/acrobat/kb/about-acrobat-reader-dc-migration-to-64-bit.html

Hope this information will help.
