The newest update is trash.
Every time I download a PDF from Google Chrome, Adobe automatically opens the file the second it is finished downloading.
In the updatede Adobe preferences, the item to uncheck "Open PDFs automatically in Reader when they are downloaded in Chrome browser" no longer exists anywhere.
I've confirmed it is not an issue with Chrome settings. It is definitely an issue with the new Adobe...
Is there another way to stop Adobe from automatically opening??

I have tried every single answer I can find on here and other sources and I still cannot stop files from automatically opening. I had it fixed but we recently upgraded to Windows 11 at work so I do not know if that has something to do with the issue or not but I am going crazy with every single PDF opening no matter if I download it or print to PDF. Please can someone provide an answer that works?

I have this problem too, running Windows and Adobe Acrobat. When I click on a link to a pdf in Chrome or Edge, Adobe Acrobat opens it automatically. I can't find any option in preferences in Adobe Acrobat to stop this. Toggling the pdf options in Chrome does not appear to work and anyway the same problem occurs in Edge. I don't want to change my default pdf viewer unless absolutely necessary. My version of Acrobat is up to date I have checked it today. Can anyone help? To be clear: what I want is to cease Adobe Acrobat automatically opening pdf files I've downloaded. Instead I'd like to be able to find them in my downloads folder (that way I can quickly download a number of separate pdf files then combine them using Adobe Acrobat before opening the combined file). Please help!

Hi there,
I hope you are doing well. Thanks for reaching out and sharing the details of your issue. I understand how this behavior can be disruptive, especially when you want to download multiple PDFs before opening them in Acrobat.
Your system and browser settings are currently set to automatically open PDFs in Acrobat once they’re downloaded. Acrobat itself doesn’t control this; the auto-open behavior is managed by your browser’s download settings.
Here are a few things you can try:
