I am getting a huge "paragraph" sized cursor when i open a new pdf...how do i reduce this to a standard cursor size?
Acrobat 9 is an old version, not compatible with Windows 10.

Interesting. Could you post a screenshot of this phenomenon, as well as some details of your software (Acrobat version & Operating System)? It might help troubleshoot.
My best,
Dave

Was this ever resolved? Seriously why are even other sites currently still talking about this dilemma? Maybe it has to do with Microsoft new Edge. Edge especially so-called new Edge has embedded pdf engine that will handle pdf files and has a few trinkets for enhancement. The pdf print engine is terrible but for those who do not have Adobe Acrobat Pro are probably fine with the Edge pdf toy. Even though you can choose your acrobat pro as default pdf app. you still see remnants of the Edge pdf app. Your print menu drop list if you have a few virtual and physical printers you can choose to have Edge handle your pdf printing needs or scroll down and you'll find a second Acrobat which is your Acrobat pro, There you will have familiar print windows with all your printer options. I believe IMO new Edge is the root cause for idiosyncrasies that are evident using Acrobat 10 pro up to DC pro. I wish there was a viable way of testing this but Windows 10 embedded new Edge you really canāt get rid of it at least every bit of the app. you can choose not to use it in place of another browser but Edge will remain in the OS. Please, voice your feelings on this. It is still a problem and it seems no one cares in development.

Hope you are doing well and thanks for reaching out.
Is this an issue with a particular PDF file or with all the PDFs? Please try with a different PDF file and check.
What is the version of the Acrobat DC you are using? To check the version go to Help > About Acrobat and make sure you have the recent version 23.08.20470 installed. Go to Help > Check for updates and reboot the computer once.
Also try to repair the installation from the help menu (Win Only) and see if that works.
Please try the steps below and see if that works:
1-Right click on start menu > select settings.
2- Click 'system' > Display.
3- Under scale and layout > custom scaling.
4- Enter a custom scaling size to 124%
5- Click Apply and check.

In Windows, Print Destination > "Save as PDF" every time you print to pdf.
If you rec'd a pdf with this issue from a 3rd party then try reprint the document with Ctrl + P, Destination "Microsoft Print to PDF" (from Adobe Acrobat). You may need to re-format fonts and rearrange some text boxes. Results will vary widely based on source formatting, etc. But you should be able to select text normally with a normal cursor, one character or line at a time.
Alternatively, try Export To > Word/Excel or HTML to extract data.
Adobe Support has relocated to the Off-World colonies.

Could you please let us know how exactly you are creating a PDF?
Are you converting a webpage to PDF?

You can check the version with the help of the steps mentioned in this help document Identify the product and its version for Acrobat and Reader DC.
Are you on a Mac or Windows? What is the OS version?
We will be waiting for your response.

Hi I have got same issue. Win 10 and Acrobat DC 19.012.20034.
It happens only when I am using Adobe PDF printer. Does not happen with Microsoft Print to PDF. It looks like the doc is divinded into large areas or so. Hard to determine what is the cause.
Anyone any idea how to fix it?

Thank you!!! I was having the same problem with the giant cursor. Following your comment, I saved as a Microsoft Print to PDF and the giant cursor is no longer there. I can now highlight the specific text I need to highlight. Thank you again!

Why is this the correct answer? I have Adobe Acrobat DC 22 and still have this exact issue.

What I found is that if you Print the file to a new pdf and resave it, that should take care of the issue. It worked for me anyway.

I have this issue too. When tried to re-print one of these many pdf's, Acorobat DC locked up, couldn't understand its own file encoding?? When copying text with giant cursor, then paste, the text is encoded in a webdings style of font. I need cut/paste from docs all day long. Is there a fix?? Win 10, current. Acrobat DC, current version.
