insufficient data for image on Acrobat Proc DC version 2018.011.200.35

Since upgrading to the latest version of Acrobat Proc DC version 2018.011.200.35 getting the error "insufficient data for image" . Not for all PDF files but those that appear to have been created using Abby FineReader 10. I am able to open these files using Adobe Reader X and XI and Adobe Reader DC version 2018.011.20036. Looks as if there is something up with the new update. Our clients are reporting having issues opening docs we are sending again they appear to be using the same version. Abby FindReader files are being created by our Printer/Scanners so I imagine we will not be alone with this issue

No, the "we" here is the non-Adobe people who see this sort of generalisation come up again and again. One bug in Acrobat, with this symptom, and everyone shouts they have found a bug too, even though Acrobat has been reporting bad images for 20 years, from long before the bug was introduced and fixed. Every case I have actually looked at was a faulty PDF. Of course bugs are possible. I don't blame this on the user, but on the PDF creation software used. Take a look under Properties > Summary to see what that is (Producer and Creator) and compare, since you can't share the file.

Of course it only happens with embedded images, there isn't any other kind, and the message is about a faulty image.

First I've heard of this workaround. Does it work for you? Bear in mind you may not get the error until the faulty image (which may be in a corner) is needed so you might have to scroll around the page.

That's a pity. We have to assume it's the files.

I must assume you work for Adobe as you appear to be using the royal "We"  and blaming what is a long standing Acrobat Reader issue on the user.

Look at this thread and you will see other users are still experiencing this issue. Do a Google search and you will see it has been happening as far back as Acrobat Reader version 9. Always seems to happen to files with embedded images. A typical workaround is to set Adobe to open all files at 100% or larger. This shouldn't make a difference as you should be able to zoom out less than 100%, but your system reaches a certain point where it throws the error and then refuses to display anything.

Adobe Acrobat Reader DC 2018.011.20040 is still having this issue. In my case all the files with the issue have an embedded image.

No I cannot share the file due to confidentiality issues.

hard time or not, most apps don’t report this error. If you would like to publicly share a file there might be interested folks who can check.

I am having the same problem, with all .pdfs, intermittently.

There is no specific pdf that I can upload that would clarify the situation as it is happening to every single one.

Works for a while, I have 3 or more pdfs open and it tends to fail after a while.

'insufficient data for an image' followed by 'unable to connect to stream'.

We have applied the patch to our systems and are still seeing the issue. I have a hard time believing it's a problem with the PDFs, as other PDF viewers don't react this way. Even Microsoft Edge (blegh) has been able to successfully open and scroll through these PDF documents with ease, yet Adobe Acrobat is popping up this error and making it nearly impossible to work.

Help!

It is possible that you are dealing with a real instance of this problem: Not enough image data for an image. Does this happened with just one PDF file, or PDF files from the same source? That would point to a problem with the PDF file(s). It is of course also possible that the fix that Adobe put into Acrobat/Reader does not catch all instances, but only Adobe would be able to comment on that.

I have been printing the same type of documents in Adobe since 2011.  All of a sudden,2 weeks ago,I get the message.  I need to print these docs - we are already behind because of it.

What is the hold up?

Same issue here.  I have an end user on Windows 7 x64 with Adobe Acrobat DC Pro (2015.006.30413) and gets the same error.  I patched the machine fully and Adobe is up to date.   I have even tried flattening the PDF and optimizing it and the issue still persists. I transferred the file to my computer (Win 10 x64), installed a trial version of Adobe Acrobat Pro DC (2015.006.30306) and can open the file with no errors. I installed FoxIt Phantom PDF and my end user can open the PDF with no issues and edit it.  They are thinking of ending their perpetual license and purchase FoxIt as this issue has been going on for far too long and causing them to lose revenue.  It would be nice to roll back as oligarch_plutocrat suggested.

Same here for the last week after update. We are large litigation company, creating PDFs for our clients via multiple applications, including CVision and Acrobat. Multiple clients - multiple calls to our CS. Too many people got update and not able to open our PDF files. Any update when this issue will be fixed by Adobe? We spent too much money on Adobe products already.
