Hi,
afer updating to Sonoma I'm not able to print in Acrobat. The Adobe Distiller is opening automatically and then the following error occurs:
A PDF file cannot be created from the following file:
/var/folders/wl/rf9rt6y96jd46gqsn6h12zbw0000gn/T/PSbmDDom.tmp
For details on how to use the Adobe PDF settings: Standardqualität
see the log file
Does someone know a hint how to solve the problem? Printing with adobe reader ist possible.

The latest Adobe Acrobat version (23.06.20360) released addresses this issue. As you have Acrobat 2017, it might not work with the newest version. You may try installing the latest version of Acrobat Reader and check if that helps.
As it is an optional version, please update the application to the newest version using the following steps:
- In Acrobat, go to Menu > Help
- Select "Check for Updates."
For more information about the new release, refer to the following link: Adobe Acrobat Release Notes.
Let us know how it goes.
Thanks,
Meenakshi

Hope this helps everyone. I am running Sonoma with latest OS 14.2.1 and deleted the current version of Acrobat on my MacBook M2 Max. I removed it and into the trash. Reinstalled the latest Acrobat Reader and I noticed the interface had changed, and using Google Chrome it printed flawlessly. Printed from the print icon in the program. Previously with the previous version I had spent all moring updating drivers, firmware, trying different browsers, and even updating Sonoma from 14 to 14.2.1. I thought it was an M2 compatibility issue but it appears just getting rid of the earlier version of Acrobat Reader did the trick.

See This article: https://eclecticlight.co/2023/09/25/postscripts-sudden-death-in-sonoma/
Acrobat cannot print a Postscript file to a non-postscript printer, and Sonoma does not recognize my Xerox printer as being a Postscript printer (which it is). I installed the Generic Postscript Printer driver instead of the Xerox driver, and now everything is working. This may be a fix for yuou if you own a postscript printer.
If you don't have a Postscript printer the only two choices you seem to have are:
I'm sure Apple and/or Adobe will fix the problem soon. (sarcasm)

I purchased Adobe Pro 2020 to replace the unusable Adobe Pro 2017. It did solve my probllem, however I understand that the product will "sunset" in mid-2025, so I am not sure I solved vs postponed a problem for a significant price. The error I received with 2017 was "no page selected." if it helps.
By @Richard17522978z9tj
Yes, you have postponed any future problems. However, as long as 2020 is still be supported, you will get updates for it. Thereafter, you will still be able to use the software as long as the OS lets you. I do not know the Adobe policy, but you may hope to have a 2025 version of a perpetual licence.
However, looking at the success of the subscription model, and some features (like Adobe Sign) that would demand a subscription, It may well be, that there will be no perpetual licence any more.
Your error with the 2017 software version is unrelated to this. After an update of macOS, people can't print any more, which points at a change to the printing subsystem from Apple. That is a risk, people are taking, when they want to upgrade early.
I'm still on Windows 10 because I would rather not render my production machines useless. In a professional setting, you need to know what happens when you upgrade.

Hi Regina33043048sfk4 and Richard17522978z9tj,
As you are using the Acrobat 2020 Classic version on Mac OS Sonoma, the fix will be available in a tentative future update.
The Acrobat 2017 reached its end of life; hence, there will be no new update for this version will be available. You may or may not experience issues when using Acrobat 2017 on the latest Mac OS Sonama, as it is never tested with the latest OS versions available.
We will update you once the fix patch will be available. We appreciate your patience.
Thanks,
Meenakshi

I tried updating Adobe but got
An error occurred. Please check for updates again later.
Error: 302
This is really annoying as I need to print PDF files for work. Any further suggestions? I have the continuous update version of Adobe Acrobat Reader

I uninstalled Acrobat and reinstalled it and was able to print again. Even through the dashboard said the version was up to date, I uninstalled it and reinstalled it. No problems then. Sonoma 14.0 on a 2018 MacBook Pro.

Same problem here and printing just does not work aftre upgrading to Sonoma. I am a subscriber and have the most current version. Trying to print a PDF document yields "A PDF file cannot be created from the following file" and then "There were no pages selected to print.". Distiller opens up and then freezes - needs to be Force Quit. Trying to update the app yields "An error occurred. Please check for updates again later. Error: 301". I have fully uninstalled and reinstalled Acrobat and CC and then applied the 23.06.20360 update manually (from a download). As of now Acrobat is completely broken on Sonoma - I have to go back to Preview to complete my work. Please fix!!!

Do we have any idea if the most recent version of Acrobat Pro will work on Sonoma? I have a couple of workarounds, but would rather not spend the $$ if ther latest version doesn'y work.

I am a subscriber and have updated the latest version of Acrobat Pro. I have even uninstalled and re-installed - and it works for a short time. This morning, same issue, distiller opens and then crashes - cant print anything. Not fixed at all.
The work around in the advanced print option of 'print as image' does work - but what a Faff! Sort it out Adobe.

hi Amal,I tried, but my Computer (Adobe) says: There is no update.my Adobe version: 2020 Releases classic- Version 2020.005.30524How to get the version you told?Ulli
By @Ulrich32824188svj8
You have Acrobat 2020 (the perpetual licence). You are not on the subscription. You won't get 23. xxx. However 2020 is still supported so you should expect an update soon.

So, it's a software issue not my hardware? I updated to Sonoma. Today, when I tried to print in Acrobat (Pro version 2022.003.20281) I got two error messages regardless the PDF:
Went through Print Production, Preflight, PDF Syntax Issues (could only Analyze, not Analyze & Fix). Two warnings listed in the report: "Key missing though required by other key," and "Unexpected value for this key."

Hi there
Is this an issue with a particular PDF file or with all the PDFs? Please try with a different PDF file and check.
Also, update the application to the recent version 23.06.20380. Click on the hamburger menu at the top left corner and go to Help > Check for updates and reboot the computer once and see if that works.
Let us know how it goes.

Hi there
We are sorry to hear that.
Would you mind sharing the Acrobat print logs as described below:
1. Place the plist file com.adobe.Acrobat.FeatureState.plist at location /Library/Application Support/Adobe/Acrobat/Trunk/Preferences
2. Execute the print workflow
3. Logs will be generated at a location similar to /var/folders/t9/93cz_sz9075d4nl5hqrlc6n00000gn/T.
4. The temp folder where the logs are generated is different for different users which is common only upto /var/folders.
5. To get the exact path of the file use the following command on terminal “ sudo find / -name AcrobatPrintLogs.txt “
6. once you get the complete path eg like /private/var/folders/jk/vgtyw__s2dsdphtygd_0jslr0000gn/T/AcrobatPrintLogs.txt
7. just add cat as follows cat /private/var/folders/jk/vgtyw__s2dsdphtygd_0jslr0000gn/T/AcrobatPrintLogs.txt
8. One can see AcrobatPrintLogs

Hi all,
As of today, Nov 22nd, 2023, I have updated my Mac to Sonoma 14.1.1. and my Adobe Acrobat is also up to date. I pay a subscription to Acrobat Pro. I find it annoying to convert files in .docx just to print and upload the file into the Adobe web app.
I was able to print only through the app.
I did not convert the file in .docx.
Does anyone have a better solution to the issue?
