Question

Recent update adversely effects "open recent files" and folders under "Your Computer" on Home page

The most recent automatic update to my Acrobat DC (version 2024.001.20604) seems likely related to two Acrobat features that have stopped working: (1) my “Open recent files” list on the File menu never changes / remains unchanged after working on other files, and (2) under “Home>Other file storage >Your computer“ the folders no longer include recently accessed folders: there are 5 folders there that seem fixed and unchangeable (I'm guessing those were the folders that were there when Acrobat was updated).

I have Acrobat DC installed on two computers. This update occurred on one of my computers a day or two before it occurred on the other. I believe that this malfunction did not start on the second computer until after it was updated to version 2024.001.20604.

I'm wondering if others have experienced this and I'm looking for a solution please.

I'm still experiencing this same issue. Any word on when it will be fixed? This is a basic function for every software and it's quite annoying not to be able to have it.

Here's a video recording of what happens:

My version shows in this recording also.

And the Recent files on my Macbook appear correctly. So it doesn't seem to be a Mac issue as someone else suggested.

Hi  there,

Hope you are doing well.

Please update the application to the recent version 24.02.20857  by manually downloading the patch here: https://www.adobe.com/devnet-docs/acrobatetk/tools/ReleaseNotesDC/index.html and reboot the computer once.

Also try to reset the Acrobat preferences as described here https://community.adobe.com/t5/acrobat-discussions/how-to-reset-acrobat-preference-settings-to-default/td-p/4792082

You may also try to create a new test user profile with full admin rights or enable the root account in MAC and try using the application there and check.

same problem 😞

I wonder if it is related to Apple OS "recent files" often being wrong

Amal, two screenshots converted to pdf files are uploaded with this reply. Each pdf includes circled items and a sticky note identifying the malfunction that I initially posted about above.

Hi there

Hope you are doing well and thanks for reaching out.

Please update the application to the recent version 24.01.20615 installed. Go to Help > Check for updates and reboot the computer once.

Try to repair the installation from the help menu (Win Only) and see if that works.

You may also try to reset the Acrobat preferences as described here https://adobe.ly/4af8mf6 and see if that works.

Let us know how it goes.

Thank you for your suggestion. I did what you suggested. It did not correct the problem.

So far as I know, there is no setting in preferences which would affect this issue, and I have no interest in re-setting my preferences to the default state. It takes far too long to go back through the preferences that I have carefully chosen to get them back where I want them to just reset them in the hope that something mysterious, as this is, will just go away, without knowing what was wrong in the first place. I use a Mac so "repair installation" is not an option. I am hopeful that Adobe will figure out what is causing this and correct it with an update.
