Using Acrobat DC and can't permanently change the Author's name in comments

I've tried the fixes found here in the discussions and it doesn't help.

I've turned off the "Always use log-in name for author name" option in the Preferences / Commenting options. This defaults to the PC's login name, which is also not the Author name I want to use.

I've gone to the Preferences of a comment and fixed the name under the General tab and clicked the "Make Properties Default", but it only changes the Author's name for that particular comment. If I make another comment it is incorrect again.

If I save/close the PDF and open it again then it's back to the original and incorrect Author name again.

I just basically can't permanently change the Author name, even with following the instructions, it just won't stick. Also uninstalled and reinstalled Acrobat and didn't help.

Complete agree pálf72008561, totally rediculous.

This is yet another post with this same problem. Maybe the very long solution I posted there will help.

I have the same issue as GregLPP. In previous Version of Adobe Acrobat, I was able to change the default author name of comments by clicking on Preferences of a comment and then insert the intended name and activating "Make Properties Default". I don't know why this isn't working any more, but Adobe Acrobat just doesn't seem to save this information. Adobe Acrobat is either using the first and family name as saved in the Adobe account for the next comment I'm inserting or it uses the PC's login name when activating "Always use log-in name for author name" under the general Preferences.

I am using Adobe Acrobat Pro 64-bit (Continuous Release Version 2024.002.20687).

Any help would be highly appreciated.

Amal.

Hi there

Hope you are doing well and thanks for reaching out.

I have tried to reproduce the same at my end on Win 11 using Acrobat Pro 24.02.20687 and its working fine.

Try to repair the installation from the help menu (Win Only) and see if that works.

Also try to reset the Acrobat preferences as described here https://adobe.ly/3Q7I9a6

You may also try to create a new test user profile with full admin rights in Win or enable the root account in MAC https://adobe.ly/3Uwv5y1 and try using the application there and check.

Let us know how it goes.

Hi Amal,

Unfortunately repair or complete uninstall/reinstall didn't help. The only way I could fix it was by reinstalling Windows and Acrobat from sratch.

Thanks and best regards,

Greg
