We're going to mars but I have bigger plans : In 2022 I want to rename a PDF
About Acrobat "Pro" file-locking :
I think it has been an issue for about 10 years now.
I like the idea that we can integrate comments in PDFs.
I like the idea of cloud sync
But what I like more is being able to use my computer.
I'd reather not having any cloud feature, no comments, no signing, nothing and be able to use Acrobat Pro to view and edit PDF, AND ALSO use my computer.
I got used to disable Windows' previsualization panel even though I use it for many file formats. However if it ever falls on a PDF, my working folder will be locked.
I got used to open PDF's in Chrome instead of Acrobat.
I got used to resign-in adobe Creative cloud if for some reason I got disconnected (I have three working computer) - even though I'm not using any "pro" feature for that one time (simple acrobat viewer)
I got used to kill any running Adobe Process if I opened a file with acrobat and want to do something with that file afterwards.
But I think 2022 is the year. A small step for Adobe, a huge step for Acrobat and its users :
- We want to be able to access our files (at least when we ACTUALLY CLOSED ACROBAT PRO !!)
- We want to be able to use Windows' visualization panel AND rename a PDF (at least when we're NOT PREVISUALIZING THIS FILE ANYMORE !!)
This will take you two weeks of work and make Adobe Acrobat Pro the best PDF viewer/editor/extras again (it's not for me, and for that reason ALONE).
Then you can go back and work on cross-cloud-inverted-synchronisative-signing-integrated-notifications-design-system-peer-review-comment-process that nobody uses because they send mails, with joined PDF inside of them, with their signature on it, and comments.
But you know, it's cool.
Just fix the software first though.
