Why is there a hairline white line around art that goes to the edge of the page?

In creating PDFs whether from InDesign or PowerPoint, any art that is goes to the edge of the page shows up in the PDF with a hairline white line.  Why is this and is there any way to make it stop?

Hi TheTerrah,

Try changing following setting in Acrobat and see if that helps:

Launch Acrobat >  edit > preferences > under page display > check the box next to Smooth line art

You may also try the steps suggested in the following link discussing the similar issue:

In PDF, white thin hairline appears

Export to PDF in InDesign causes thin white or dark lines to appear

Unfortunately this does not solve my problem. Additionally this is happening when creating any PDF from any program (PowerPoint in this example) on a PC which does not have Acrobat and is only using the Save as PDF function from the program.

The line is appearing all around the outer edge of the page when the art goes to the edges.
