a comment bubble automatically appear whenever i highlight some text

Community Beginner ,

Recently, there seem to have been a new update with adobe acrobat reader DC. Since then, whenever i highlight some text, a comment bubble automatically appears. This is very frustrating! Anyone has any tips ? If this option cannot be disabled, I'm afraid I'll have to find another pdf reader because this is too annoying and keeps me from reading and highlighting texts probably.

Thank you!

Hi julies,

As per the issue description mentioned above, you are facing issue when hightlighting text in reader, is that correct?

Try launching reader > click edit > preferences > commenting > uncheck the box nex to automatically open pop-ups on mouse rollover

Click OK and check.

Let us know if you need any help.

I'm afraid this box was already unchecked for me. I noticed that when I highlight the text without the comment mode opened, the commenting box doesn't appear. It's when I am on the commenting mode (which I usually am because I want to write and highlight at the same time) that it does that. I don't understand why add a new feature that is so annoying and can't be disabled easily.

Hi julies,

I tried replicating the issue (in the comment mode/without the comment mode) in reader on a windows machine but the issue was not reproducible. Could you try repairing reader using "Repair installation" option under Help menu ( for Windows OS only), reboot the machine after repair and check.

Hi julies,

Try following troubleshooting steps:

1- Download and run cleaner tool on the machine to uninstall reader: Download Adobe Reader and Acrobat Cleaner Tool - Adobe Labs

2- Reboot the machine

3- Download and install reader from here: Adobe Acrobat Reader DC Install for all versions

4- Reboot the machine again and check.

Thanks,

Shivam
