Acrobat Reader installation fails on new Macbook Air M4?

New Here ,
Mar 28, 2025 Mar 28, 2025

I was using Acrobart reader on my old Macbook without any problems. I only need basic features like reading, creating and signing PDFs. On my new Macbook Air I am unable to open any of my PDFs - the window to start a free trial pops open and I don't see any option to bypass this. I attempted to install Reader from the Adobe website and got this error message: "Found a more functional Adobe Acrobat already installed. Installer will terminate." And then: "The installation failed. The installer encountered an error that caused the installation to fail. Contact the software manufacturer for assistance." I really don't want to pay $200+ for features I don't need if I don't have to! Any assistance appreciated!

Maybe you installed the SCA version of Acrobat DC (full version) or the SCA version of Acrobat DC (Mini Reader version a limited version of Acrobat DC).

Try these steps:

1.Uninstall Acrobat (If you can't find this step, go to step 2.)

YES!! That worked!! Thank you very much! It still prompted me to purchase Pro but I was able to bypass that and now have access to the Reader tools as I did before.
