Adobe Acrobat DC "Save File" icon disabled. And existing PDF files became non-PDF.

Hello I'm new here, maybe there was a recent update or something but as of a few days ago my Adobe Acrobat Reader DC now has the "Save file" icon in the upper left corner DISABLED. I can click the File drop down menu and click "Save As..." and it will save to my computer, but it will save it as a "file:///C:/Users/..." webpage and not a proper normal PDF doc. From that "file:///C:/Users/..." page I can then download and open the correct PDF without problem, but I just CAN'T SAVE it properly. It has also changed all my existing PDF documents to those "file:///C:/Users/..." pages I mentioned and my computer icons for all of these have changed from the normal Adobe PDF icon look to blank "white page" looking icons. Any help from the community on this?

Resolved! My computer settings had changed somehow so that it was instructing to open Adobe documents with Firefox. Changed it back to "open with Adobe" on Properties / General by right clicking on a document icon. Very big thank you to Adobe rep who helped me by phone call.

Hi @Paul PCD

As per the issue description, the save file icon is disabled, it could be possible that you haven't made any changes to the file. Because if you have made changes and saved the file then if you don't make any changes the "Save" icons remain greyed out.

If something else you are having issues with, could you share some screenshots to understand it better?

Thanks,

Harsh

Hello Harsh, thanks for reply. I personally don't make any changes to PDF's, the only thing I'm doing when I'm saving them is just simply a single save to save it onto my computer. For example, when I save a file that I'm getting on the internet which I do a single save so I can just have on my computer. My use of Adobe PDF's is very basic in this respect.

There is a larger issue at play here because not only can I no longer do this saving function but all of my existing PDF files have changed to a different sort of non-PDF format as I described above. All of this happened at the same time just a few days ago.

I'm having a hard time coming up with a screenshot, but basically the "save file" icon now has a lighter grey color than the other icons next to it and it will no longer allow me to click on it. When I hover my cursor over the other icons they turn blue, however the "save file" icon does not turn blue when my cursor is on it.
