Adobe Acrobat Pro DC Read Out Loud unable to adjust pitch or words per minute

I can select different voices (and hear different speeches), but changing the pitch, words per minute, and volume does not change the speech at all.

 

Adobe Acrobat Pro DC v. 2019.012.20040 (latest version according to Adobe CC)

macOS Catalina 10.15.7

OP - No suggestions for this anywhere worked for me. I solved this problem for myself when I realized the pdf I was working with was a microsoft doc that i printed to pdf using Microsoft Print to PDF. I fixed this by saving the same document as adobe pdf (its a save option not a print option). after that, unchecking "use default speech attributes" in the preferences menu worked. what i am GROSSLY annoyed by is the PDF is supposed to something that works the same everywhere. IT SHOULD NOT MATTER HOW I GENERATED THE PDF, ADOBE!!!!!! i have a lot of four letter words for adobe about this.  think them all to yourself. this is what i am saying to you adobe, very loud.

Hi there

 

Hope you are doing well and sorry for the trouble. As described you want to set the pitch/words per minute while reading out loud the PDF file.

 

Please go to Edit (Windows), Adobe Acrobat (Mac) > Preferences > Reading > Under Read Out Loud Options, Uncheck 'Use default speech attributes' and set the pitch and Words per minute as per your requirement and Click OK.

Hi, do you have another solution? As I stated in my original question, changing the pitch and words per minute does not change the speech at all.

Hi there

 

Sorry for the delay in response. Please try to reset the Acrobat preferences to default as described in the help page - https://community.adobe.com/t5/acrobat/how-to-reset-acrobat-preference-settings-to-default/td-p/4792082

You may also try to create  a new test user profile in with full admin rights or enable the root account in Mac and try using the application there and check.
