Hi,

Is it possible to configure Adobe Reader DC to automatically update as a background process, even when the product is not open? I want to ensure the latest version is installed at the point of launch, rather that it being invoked at launch.

If this is not possible, how do I configure the default time interval in days to check for updates? It is referenced here (Windows Updates (adobe.com)) but does not apply to DC products.

Thanks,

Michael

Hi there

No setting/configs are required, by default, updater checks and update the application periodically. To have the latest version, user has to atleast launch the app once. Post that, updater would update the app at the background as and when update are available.

Hi Michael,

Hope you are doing well and sorry for the trouble. Adobe Acrobat Reader is set up for automatic updates by default. It does not provide any UI option in the preferences to control this setting.

IT Administrators can control the update settings using the Adobe Customization Wizard or the Windows Registry as described in the help page https://helpx.adobe.com/acrobat/kb/automatic-updates---acrobat-reader.html

Hi Amal,

Thank you for your reply. I have previously reviewed the Windows Registry configuration however it states -

"For DC products, the web component updater can be configured independently of the product updater. Most of these preferences are deprecated and do not apply to DC products."

Can you confirm if it does still apply, and if so, which registry keys would apply the required behaviour (referenced in original post)?

Thanks,

Michael
