I have had the Adobe Chrome extension for months and recently the "Open in Desktop App" button stopped working. Everything else about Acrobat Reader and the chrome extension work fine, but in Chrome if I click the "Open in Desktop App" button, nothing happens at all. I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling both Acrobat and the extension to no avail. Any other steps or things to try?
I'm on an M1 Macbook Pro running Ventura but this issue started before the update to Ventura.

Hope you are doing well. Sorry for your experience with Acrobat Reader.
What I understand from the description, you might want to try clearing the data cache on Chrome and check for any possible updates on Google Chrome.
You may learn how to clear cache from here: Clear cache & cookies - Computer
You can learn about manual updates of Google Chrome from here: Update Google Chrome - Computer
Let me know if this helps.

Thanks for the prompt reply. I just cleared the cache and cookies, updated chrome, and still no luck! The Adobe extension clearly reset the data as it gave me the startup tour again, but the button still doesn't work.

I tried both of those steps and even restarted chrome afterward and that didn't fix the problem either!

Would you mind checking on a different web browser if the extension for Acrobat works there?
This is just for testing purposes.

I wasn't able to find maintained Acrobat extensions for either Safari or Firefox. Did I miss something or is there another browser that I should use?

You can install the firefox extension by following the steps mentioned here: Enable Create PDF extension for Mozilla Firefox, Adobe Acrobat
You can reference from this link for Safari: Configure browser to use the Adobe PDF plug-in to open online PDF files

The Firefox plugin only works with version number 73 and older (as specified in the article) Firefox is currently on version 107. The Safari instructions are also for an out of date version of Safari, plug-ins no longer exist for current versions of Safari and are instead handled through extensions. There are no extensions for Safari that reference Adobe Acrobat.

If I dont have the desktop app open already, then the extension doesnt open the application/document in the desktop app. - if I do have the desktop app open then it works fine.
its something to do with having to boot up the desktop application.

Amen Zachary! I am having the exact same problem and am following your thread. This one is making me crazy as I got so used to using the extension in Chrome.

Yeah, I am having the exact same problem on a MacBook Pro 16" (2021) running an M1 Pro SoC. It hasn't worked for months, even on my old MacBook Pro from mid-2015. The button just does nothing at all. I find it hard to believe that Adobe hasn't been aware of this problem. I left feedback through the extension about this several weeks ago as well. For me, this makes the browser extension practically useless, as I still have to download, move, and rename the files anyway.
Please help, Adobe!

Unfortunately, not that I can see ... I must admit that I'm baffled. It was working fine, and then all of a sudden, it wasn't. It seems a little farfetched that there doesn't appear to be a simple fix for this. I'm guessing that it's unique to the Mac, because I also use the extension on a Windows laptop, and the button works just fine with that OS. Even so, if macOS is the root of the problem, Adobe should be able to give us a workaround (e.g., adjust some setting in macOS) so that it functions properly again, or at least an announcement that they're aware of the problem and that it's unfixable without help from Apple. I certainly would think that they have mods or other community forum staff who could reply to our posts and make such an announcement, so their lack of response to date has me quite concerned.

It still doesn't work, and it's been going on for me for the past couple of months at least. Very frustrating. Adobe has these types of ticky-tack problems all the time with Chrome. That button not working is such an enormous failure of Adobe's.
