Everytime I try to open a document in Adobe Reader, Adobe opens but by the time I try to click on the file I want to open, the system says that Adobe is not responding. If I open the PDF file directly, the file will open in Adobe, but as soon as I try to do anything, system says Adobe is Not responding.

Hi Dona,

Thanks for reaching out. As described above, Adobe Acrobat Reader DC is not responding, correct?

We need some more information for a better understanding:

  • What is the version of the Adobe Acrobat Reader DC Installed? To check the version of the application please use the link https://helpx.adobe.com/acrobat/kb/identify-product-version.html
  • Is this a behavior with a particular file or with any PDF you open? Try with a different file and check for issue.
  • Please reboot the computer and check it it helps.
  • Please check for any missing updates. A new update for Adobe Acrobat/Reader DC got released on 17th Oct 2019 version 19.21.20048 please try to update the application to the new version. Go to Help > Check for Updates and see if it helps. For detailed information about the new version please use the help link https://www.adobe.com/devnet-docs/acrobatetk/tools/ReleaseNotesDC/index.html

Let us know how it goes

Regards

Amal

We are sorry for the trouble.  As you have the updates, please make sure you have the latest version 19.21.20061.  Go to Help>Check for Updates. You may also download the patch manually from the link: https://www.adobe.com/devnet-docs/acrobatetk/tools/ReleaseNotesDC/index.html

If it still doesn't work, please try to repair the installation (For Windows Only). Go to Help > Repair Installation.
