Hi Graeme,

As per the issue description, you are getting the popup/flash window everytime you open a PDF/Reader.

The First Time Experience (FTE) feature displays help content and tips when the application is started.

Assuming you are using a Windows machine, to disable FTE, set the registry value :

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Policies\Adobe\Acrobat Reader\DC\FeatureLockDown]

"bToggleFTE"=dword:00000001

Open registry through Run command i.e. type regedit in Run and click ok.

1. Navigate to the Registry location: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Policies\Adobe\Acrobat Reader\DC\FeatureLockDown.

2. Highlight FeatureLockDown.

3. In the right window, right click in the Blank space and choose New > DWORD (32 bit) Value.

4. Enter the value bToggleFTE

5. Highlight the Registry value i.e. bToggleFTE > Right click and choose Modify.

6. Enter Value Data as 1 and click Ok.

Reboot the computer and launch the Reader.

Please keep us posted with the results.

Regards,

Anand Sri.

Hi,

Thanks for reporting this. To help us further understand the situation , can you help us with below information :

1. It seems that you want to only use the free Adobe Acrobat Reader. Can you confirm how did you installed this product.

2. What is the product version? You can get that information from Adobe Acrobat.app --> Right Click --> get Info.

3. Please run the Adobe Log Collector Tool and share the logs thus created with us.

Thanks,

Nikhil Gupta

Hi Nikhil.Gupta.   Are you still available to assist with this issue?

I have 3 user logins on my laptop.  1 is a work one which I use an acrobat subscription for.  1 login i only want to use acrobat reader which i downloaded years ago and is now causing the "buy a plan" ad and not allowing me to open any PDF's.
I have redownloaded reader from https://helpx.adobe.com/au/acrobat/kb/install-reader-dc-windows.html.
I am unable to provide the information requested in the next 2 points as I am unable to open the app.  If i close the ad it closes the app.
Please assist.

I'm having the same problem too ever since I had a free trial of pro, which I don't need.  It keeps asking for me to allow access to security details and I can't get past this despite hitting deny repeatedly.  I can't comment or highlight anything on adobe reader now on my mac - I've tried reinstalling and no joy
