Adobe reader closes when clicking on link

New Here ,
Nov 23, 2022 Nov 23, 2022

When clicking a link to another PDF, Adobe will hang for a few of seconds then close.

The link is to another PDF from within the same file system. The issue is affecting all users since the update to 22.003.20282 It seems to be more stable if you leave adobe for 10-20 seconds after opening the current document.

We get no error message, adobe simply closes.

We have tried changing various settings, 32/64bit installation, repairs and re install's, nothing seems to help with the issue.

Hi @Daniel25719590nroy,

Hope you are doing well. Sorry for your experience with Acrobat Reader.

You may also try to reset the Acrobat preferences as described here https://community.adobe.com/t5/acrobat-discussions/how-to-reset-acrobat-preference-settings-to-defau...

Please go to Edit > Preferences > Page Display > Under rendering, Uncheck 'Use Page Cache' > Click OK and reboot the application.

Let us know how it goes.

-Souvik.

I did it and it still closes. weird.  If I do a "Save as" over the same document and leave it open...it then works.  But then open the same document I just "save as"...it does it again...strange...

Hi @photographybybud,

Hope you are doing well. Sorry for the trouble.

Do you experience the issue with specific or all files? Also, would you mind sharing a few more pieces of information for further investigation:

1. The app version of Acrobat you are using (go to Help-> About Acrobat Pro);

2. The OS and its version on your device;

3. A sample file to test;

4. A screen recording of the issue for better understanding.

Look forward to hearing from you.

-Souvik
