Adobe reader failing to open

I have been using AOL for a long time. I have Adobe Reader. Previously whe I received a .pdf file as an attachment in AOL, I would click on it and Adobe Reader would automatically open it for me. This does not happen anymore.

We need some more information for a better understanding:
- What is the version of the application? To check the version of the application you may refer to - Identify the product and its version for Acrobat and Reader DC ​
- What is the OS and version?
- Are you on a home network or on a work domain?
- Is it with a particular file or with any file that you try to open?

- Are you able to open the PDF file stored locally on your computer?
In the meantime, you may try the following troubleshooting steps:
- Try to download the file on your computer and try to open it.
- Please try to update the application to the latest version. Go to Help > Check for Updates. To know more about the latest version available you may please refer to the link - DC Release Notes — Release Notes for Acrobat DC Products
- https://www.adobe.com/devnet-docs/acrobatetk/tools/ReleaseNotesDC/index.htmlPlease try to repair the installation (Windows only). Go to Help > Repair Installation.
- Check for any anti-virus program installed on your computer, if yes please disable the program.
- Reboot the system and check.
