I had no problems printing PDFs on my Windows 10 desktop using Adobe Reader. I left the computer at a shop for a different issue and when i got it back every time I try to print a PDF file I get an Adobe error message. “The document could not be printed.” " If you continue to have this issue reach out to Adobe support". This has worked well for several years. Has there been an Adobe and/or a MicroSoft update that makes this happen? Any quick solution?
Thanks
Ron
Hi dresdenron,
Sorry about the delay in response.
If you do not wish to have the MUI version, you may remove the application and run the cleaner tool (https://www.adobe.com/devnet-docs/acrobatetk/tools/Labs/cleaner.html). Reboot the machine and install the Acrobat Reader from this page: https://get.adobe.com/reader/enterprise/.
Then try printing and check if you get the error message.
Let us know how it goes.
Thanks,
Meenakshi

Ask the shop what they did, and if they have a solution for this. Updating the printer driver may help. You can check, if it is the printer driver, by printing to a virtual printer, like the “Microsoft XPS” printer or “Microsoft to PDF” printer. Both are normally present on a Windows 10 system and are non-physical printers.

The problem is with "MicroSoft Print to PDF". Shop isn't open Fridays or weekends so I will be contacting them today.

The shop was testing the hard drive with Western Diguital Tools for an unrelated question. I did notice that there is now a listing under Installed programs that said Adobe Acrobat Reader MUI was installed while the computer was in the shop. I don't know if that was automantic or not. I have always used Adobe Reader without problem until now. What does the MUI mean and do you think that is why pdf printing is not working since it showed up?

Here the same problem only with Quick Print, this seems to have occurred since the last update of Adobe Acrobat;

Did anyone find a fix for this? I got a popup about another Adobe update but after that installed I still have the problem. I had stopped at the tech desk at a local Staples store but they didn't know what I was talking about. The same day I was up the street from Staples at a meeting at the local city library and they mentioned the library had many printing problems same as I did after August 30th Adobe update.

Thank you for reaching out, and sorry about the trouble caused.
Try removing the application and running the cleaner tool (https://www.adobe.com/devnet-docs/acrobatetk/tools/Labs/cleaner.html). Reboot the machine and install Acrobat Pro from the following page: https://helpx.adobe.com/acrobat/kb/acrobat-dc-downloads.html.
If the issue still occurs, share the Acrobat versions on the machine. Share the screen recording of the workflow.
We may require the process logs. Please also collect the process logs using the steps mentioned here: https://www.adobe.com/devnet-docs/acrobatetk/tools/Labs/acromonitor.html, and share them with us.
Let us know how it goes.
Thanks,
Meenakshi

Meenakshi,
Since you are an Adobe employee. I wrote the original question. Is there any fix for that printing problem that others are also having. On August 30th my system said Adobe Acrobat Reader MUI was downloaded ( I don't know if it was suppose to be an update or a whole new program). Is Adobe Reader, which I have used for many years the same program as Adobe Acrobat Reader MUI?
Thank you
Ron

Hi dresdenron,
Thank you for your patience, and sorry about the delay in response.
Multilingual User Interface (MUI) installers allow you to install any combination of supported languages. For example, you can install French, German, and Spanish simultaneously and then switch among those languages within the product. Other than that, there will be no difference in the application.
However, the application will not install automatically. Please let us know if you use the application on a work machine or personal device.
For printing issues, try the troubleshooting steps suggested here: https://helpx.adobe.com/acrobat/kb/troubleshoot-pdf-printing-acrobat-reader.html.
If that does not help, share the image of the print and screen recording of the workflow. We will get this checked.
Thanks,
Meenakshi

Meenakshi,
Thank you for the reply. I am using a personal desktop computer.
I had used Adobe Reader for a couple of decades without problems. Apparently Adobe sent out an update on August 30th, 2023. It says the software in the update was Adobe Acrobat Reader MUI. I don't need the multi language thing and didn't ask for it. Since August 30th I (and others from what I read) have had a problem with printing PDF files. For example,
I just clicked on a PDF file that I used to print with no problem. Now I get an Adobe Reader error box that says "The document could not be printed, kindly use our help page to troubleshoot"
This was not a problem before the update.

Meenakshi,
Thank you for the response. That is the solution I was looking for. I tried it and everything is working good like it used to (at least until the next update sneaks in there).
Have a great day

Meenakshi,
Just an update. the link in your above reply to run the cleaner tool no longer works (as of 120423). Is it still needed or is it automaticaly done in an install now?
Thanks,
Ron
