Hello,
I've been trying to unsuccessfully sign a pdf document with a digital signature using Adobe Reader XI:
1. The form I'm trying to sign is here: http://www.mca.gov.in/MCA21/dca/downl...
2. Edit->Protection->Properties shows that filling of form fields and signing is allowed.
3. In Edit->Preferences->Signatures I can see the digital certificate I want to use for signing the document. Under usage options, I have enabled "use for signing"
4. However, even after all this, all fields under the "Work with certificates" option in the Fill and Sign sidebar is grayed out.
5. Clicking on the signature field in the document has no effect. Nothing happens.
Can someone throw some light on this issue?
Thanks,
Ravi

Hi vmarsi,
Thank you for posting on Adobe forums.
Please note that you cannot digitally sign a PDF with Reader unless the PDF has been Reader Enabled.
In order to enable extended rights in the PDF file, you will have to use Adobe Acrobat and choose "File > Save as > Reader Extended PDF"
Let me know how it goes.

Thank you, but that wasn't the problem. The document IS reader enabled. The problem was successfully addressed by Karl Heinz Kremer here:
