cannot uninstall adobe reader dc or acrobat xi

I keep getting update notifications from the manager and when I try to update it gets to the end and fails with a 'print spool error'.  I try to uninstall and same error.  Do I have to wipe my hard drives to take care of this?

Windows 8.1 on asus g74x  Core i7 processor...DBANd last January with clean install Win 8.1.

What the flip?

There shouldn't be any updates for Reader DC, but Acrobat XI if the version is lower than 11.0.11.

If you cannot uninstall either of them, use the Cleaner Tool http://labs.adobe.com/downloads/acrobatcleaner.html
