Despite having an up to date Adobe Reader and a print preview showing the whole documentation; on printing only the border outline prints but not the content. I am trying to print the insurance certificate. I have looked through all the print options I can find and tried re-saving the PDF to another file, restarted my computer etc. I can not export to Word as the pdf is passport protected. Any suggestions gratefully received! Steve
Hi SouthEssex,
If the issue you are facing is with PDF files, I would like to mention Microsoft Edge do not use Acrobat plug-in / Add-on to view PDF files.
Microsoft has their own built-in feature to view PDF files. You may check latest about viewing PDF files within the browser: Change in support for Acrobat and Reader plug-ins in modern web browsers I would suggest downloading a file and then viewing in Reader, if you are facing any issue within a browser.
Let us know if that helps.

Hi stephenw22457366,
Open the file in Reader, click on File>Properties>Security tab, check if you have permission to print this document.
Try printing this document as an image to print this as an image, click on Print> Advanced, check option "Print As Image" and try to print.
Let us know if that helps.
If you already have figured a solution to this problem, please respond with your findings that will help others.

This is a problem I have encountered with Microsoft Edge.
I have downloaded several theatre tickets and bank statements and the providers files have defaulted to Microsoft Edge. The PDF file is shown and appears to be complete however when printed only the static data appears not the variable data. For example a theatre ticket will show the name of the theatre, address etc. but details of the booking, seat numbers, booking reference etc. are missing.
If I save the document to Paperport (as a PDF file) I can see in the file icon that it contains the variable data but when it is opened that data is missing.
When in Edge there is an option to open the PDF file in Internet Explorer. When this option is chosen it is then possible to print the complete document with both static and variable data.
I do not know if this problem appears under any other conditions only that I have experienced it several times, all of the occasions being when Edge is involved.
Any permanent fixes/suggestions would be most welcome.
P.S. I have no knowledge as to what programme was used by the senders to generate the original PDF document.

Hi Tariq
Just to let you know your suggestion didn't work. However, I did resolve the issue in two ways. Firstly by forwarding the email and attachment to a friend who received it in Microsoft Outlook and had no problem printing the attachment. Secondly, I had also forwarded to another friend who opened the attachment and stored in "Dropbox". I was able to print the document (insurance certificate) from Dropbox.
Thanks for your advice

Hi,
I understand the challenges you're facing with printing your PDF documents, especially when it comes to critical files like insurance documents. Accurate documentation is crucial in the insurance industry , as missing details can cause unnecessary delays or issues when filing claims or presenting proof of coverage.
To address your issue, I recommend the following steps:
Check Security Settings: Ensure that the PDF isn’t protected with restrictions. In Adobe Reader, go to File > Properties > Security to verify if printing permissions are allowed.
Print as Image: Sometimes, variable data (like policy numbers or client-specific details) may not render correctly due to font embedding issues. Try printing the document as an image by going to Print > Advanced > Print As Image.
Use an Alternative Viewer: If Microsoft Edge continues to cause problems, download the document and open it with a dedicated PDF reader like Adobe Acrobat or another trusted PDF viewer. These often handle complex PDF files more reliably than browser-based viewers.
Check with Your Insurance Provider: If you’re unable to resolve the issue, it may be helpful to request a reissued document from your insurance provider. They can ensure the file is formatted for compatibility with common PDF viewers and printers.
Store Your Insurance Documents Securely: For future reference, consider saving these critical files in a secure cloud storage service (e.g., Dropbox or Google Drive) or in an insurance-specific digital vault for easy access and sharing.
Maintaining clear, printable insurance documentation is vital for policyholders and providers alike. If your issue persists, don’t hesitate to ask your provider or technical support for further assistance.
I hope these suggestions help!
