Close left/right panes with hotkey or by default

I am using the free Adobe 2023.003-20244 on Windows 10. It presents the the following:

(1) The docment at the centre

(2) There is a left pane for "All tools", "Edit", "Convert", and "Sign"

(3) There is a right pane for Bookmarks.

I mostly don't use the panes, so I use the GUI to close them.

I routinely open multiple files in succession, however, so I end up mousing around to close both panes for each and every document. It turns a simple task of inspecting many documents into an error-prone tedium.

Is there a hot key that I can use to close the two panes?

Additionally, is it possible to open PDF documents with the panes closed by default?

Hi @04heven5ake

Thanks for sharing your observation.

We believe you are on a new UI of Acrobat Reader. This is a modern viewer experience. Can you give it a try by changing the following settings in preferences:

Open Reader>Edit>Preferences>Documents> Check "Remember the current state of the Tool-pane>OK.

For more details, please check https://helpx.adobe.com/acrobat/kb/disable-right-hand-pane-in-acrobat-reader.html

If you have this option checked, and it still doesn't work and keep the tool pane closed the next time you open it, let us know.

Also, share the screenshot of the above preferences setting.

Thanks,

Akanchha

Thanks, Akanchha.  Unfortunately, it doesn't work.  The panes remain open when I access the same file and when access new files.  Here is an image of my preferences:

I guess Acrobat Reader is stuck with this usability issue going forward?
