Most (not all) users receive "AcroRd32.exe - Application Error" as soon as they open Reader or try to open a PDF. If I expand the details, I see "The Instruction at 0x6d559f7b referenced memory at 0x00000000. The memory could not be read."
This has been happening for a couple of weeks now. We have two RDS Session Hosts, both on 2012R2 Standard. Once a user starts getting this problem, it doesn't matter which Session Host the user logs onto they get the same error. Which makes me think it's something profile related. I tried restoring both VM's back to before the problem started, it seems to work for an hour or so, then starts faulting again. I've even tried restoring the VM then disabling the Adobe Update service before attaching the virtual switch but the same thing happens.
The users are using published Web Apps, but I also see the error when logged directly onto the server via the Hyper-V console.

As well as restoring the VM we have completely uninstalled, used the Adobe Cleaner Tool and reinstalled on both servers, but the problem persists. Tried turning Protected Mode off, any suggestions would be appreciated.

Got exactly this issue - any progress
Tried win7 compatibility mode as in another post but no issue
At present only occurring on new profiles thank goodness, We use user profile disks, its almost like the the first time through if the user profile isn't loaded properly and you access adobe it saves something somewhere and then it cannot reset the user settings again.
I can open as an administrator and save the settings, but when I reopen the program normally the settings are not being saved

We have the same set up and the issue happens with us as well. Only new profiles have the issue.

I just tried something and it seemed to fix the issue for us. I opened a PDF by double-clicking the file and letting Adobe open. Once open I turned off all the enhanced security under EDIT->PREFERENCES, closed Adobe, then opened it from the Adobe icon and it opened with no issues.

The suggestion EDIT->PREFERENCES, closed Adobe, then opened it from the Adobe icon and it opened with no issues. Did not work for me.
I have used the workaround
Set adobe to run in xp mode ( right click adobe icon, compatabilty tag, tick box and select xp mode from the drop box)
click on pdf file and select open with adobe
answer the question to always open without summat ie the middle option.
close adobe
take off compatability
I can now create new users with adobe access
Note I had already created folders in the roaming folder. If this fails try puting these folders in first
C:\Users\USERNAME\AppData\Local\Adobe\Acrobat\DC\ToolsSearchCacheAcro
C:\Users\USERNAME\AppData\Local\Adobe\Acrobat\DC\ToolsSearchCacheRdr
