Everytime I open a pdf I get an application error message - The application was unable to start correctly 0xc0000022. I am unable to save or print any pdfs. Anyone know what this means and a fix?
Looks like I located the problem
It is a virus that creates this issue. I am using Windows Defender and ran program off line and it picked it up.
Had to run windows defender 3 times offline and full scan to delete all the links of this virus.
It looked like it continued to change names. What Microsoft calls a multilink virus.
Since cleaning my system no more applications error.
Moral of the story do not trust that you have deleted a virus the first time.

Please let me know what version of Reader you are using.
Try disabling Protected Mode under "Edit > Preferences > Security (Enhanced)" and check.
Let me know if that helps.

Hi georgeb13392266,
Please let me know what version of OS you are using.
Also, try checking for updates and repairing Reader from the Help menu and see if that helps.
Are you running as administrator?
If you are on Windows, then please run the cleaner tool "Download Adobe Reader and Acrobat Cleaner Tool - Adobe Labs" to remove all traces of Reader and reinstall the software from the below mentioned link:
Let me know if that helps.

After doing a clean reinstall, disable Protected Mode under "Edit > Preferences > Security (Enhanced)" and set 'View documents to PDF/A mode' to Never under "Preferences > Documents".

I recently had this problem - Reader DC on Win7 64-bit - and managed to cure it eventually using this procedure:
Reboot to clear hanging processes
Run Adobe Cleaner for DC (this repeatedly hung up as 'Not Responding')
Reboot
Run the Cleaner tools for all older versions of Reader
Run Cleaner for DC again (still hung!)
reboot
Install fresh download of Reader DC
All now seems to be working as it should - no error on startup, and printing works properly.

Hello Everyone,
You must try the following steps-
Run the repair for the of Microsoft visual C++ 2013 Redistributable(x64&x86) and try again.
Control Panel\All Control Panel Items\Programs and Features\Visual C++ Redistributable 2013 (right click and repair)
If it still doesn't work then, uninstall it completely and reinstall it again through-
Relaunch the Acrobat Reader
Let us know if it still doesn't work.

Have performing more research
When using Microsoft Edge as Internet Browser no problem with Adobe PDF documents.
When using computer off line no problem with Adobe PDF documents.
Application error 0xc0000022 occurs only after opening or having previously opened Mozilla Firefox as Internet Browser.
Computer must be rebooted or restarted before application error 0xc0000022 will desist
Did not have this issue with Windows 7 and Firefox.
I guess the question ? For those of us that are having the this error
If you open the document before opening Explorer and or Firefox or any other web browser are still receiving the error 22?
Please remember to start from a fresh Boot up and or a fresh restart
Thanks for any feedback

You are right, this is definitely a Trojan in the computer. Even Defender could not find them. I ran Hitman Pro free for 30 Days. Not only scans an fines the Trojan but removes them for the 30 Day trial.
