Error 1636

I am running Adobe Acrobat Reader DC Version 2015.020.20039 on an iMac with El Capitan Version 10.11.6. There is an update available 15.020.20042 that I tried to install. The update failed (several times) and I got the message "Error 1636". I could not find any information about Error 1636. So I don't know what the cause for the failure behind the update is.

Help is appreciated.

Try below mention steps and see if that resolve the error with updating:

1- Temporarily disable Antivirus and then install update for Reader.

2- If that doesn't work, try enabling root user account and install update for Reader, visit this link on how to enable root user account on Mac: Enabling and using the "root" user in OS X - Apple Support

3- If that doesn't work, uninstall Reader DC, download and install Acrobat Reader DC from here: Adobe - Adobe Acrobat Reader DC Distribution , apply patch from here: 15.020.20042 Optional update
