Fetching Certificate Revocation List Pop Up message

New Here ,
Aug 03, 2018 Aug 03, 2018

I am getting the "fetching certificate revocation list from http://crl.adobe.com/cds.crl, press ESC to cancel" pop up message. Nothing works to clear this message and Adobe freezes up. I've tried to find answers in past forums. I've tried the security settings change suggestions, etc. I'm using Windows 7 and have Adobe Reader XI-version 11.0.23.  How do I fix this permanently??

Hello Reesetibm,

We're sorry for the trouble you had with Adobe Reader, there is a setting under Edit > Preferences > Trust Manager > Automatic Updates > Load trusted root certificates, make sure that this box is selected.

You may also try the suggestion from Adobe Reader DC crashes for certified PDF's

Try repairing Adobe Reader from help>repair installation, reboot the machine after repair. If the issue still persists, remove Adobe Reader using Acrobat cleaner tool Download Adobe Reader and Acrobat Cleaner Tool - Adobe Labs

Reboot the machine and install the latest version of Adobe Reader from Adobe - Adobe Acrobat Reader DC Distribution

Adobe Reader 11 is old and out of support product and the security updates and patches are not available and this may be the reason you are getting the error message.

install the latest version of Adobe Reader and check.

let us know how it goes and share your observation.

Thanks,

Anand Sri.

I am having the same issues with my Adobe Pro. Sometimes it will work good for awhile and then there are times where you cannot do a thing. Today is one of those days.

Mee too. Having the same pop-up window about certificate list, then Acrobat tries to connect to ocsp.digicert.com and freeezes. Because of comapny firewall, I cannot update these sites in Preferences.

I'm having the same problem anytime I open Adobe, making the product entirely unusable. Thinking it's time to switch back to I<3PDF

Hi Carl38875361l5n7,

Thank you for reaching out, and sorry about the trouble caused.

Try reinstalling the application using the following steps:
-Remove the application and run the cleaner tool (https://adobe.ly/3yv4jxs).
-Reboot the machine
-Install Adobe Acrobat from the following page: https://adobe.ly/4fhe7Ma.

Check if that helps.

If the issue still occurs, share the following information:

- Do you get an error message when launching the application?

- Share the Acrobat and OS version number in use.

- Share the troubleshooting steps tried.

Let us know if you need any help.

Thanks,

Meenakshi

I found this on one of the forums and it worked for me:

Go into Preferences > Signatures > Verification and click More button > Uncheck "Verify signatures when document is opened" (top check box) and Uncheck "Require certificate revocation checking..." (middle check box) > OK
