How do I make web PDFs stop opening in broswer and in Reader?

I have some users that are having problems printing PDFs. Basically they all have to use Chrome, IE, and Firefox. When they save a PDF to their local machine it will print fine. When they just open it in a browser it wont print.

So this brings me to my problem. I cant get PDFs to stop opening in the browser. I want them to open in Reader. When I do research all I find is stuff telling me to disable the browser plug in (Which is nowhere to be found), or to go into the Adobe preferences>Internet and uncheck the box that says "Display in Browser". Problem is, there is no checkbox for that on the newest Adobe Reader.

So what is the solution to stop web PDFs from opening in the browser and open IN Reader instead?

Hi BSCounty,

We don't have control over Google chrome. What you may try is, you may disable default pdf plugin within the browser. Doing that will force the browser to download the files and then you can open in Reader or Acrobat.

Display PDF in browser Adobe Acrobat DC, Acrobat Reader DC to disable plugin you may visit the link

Tariq,

Like I said, there is no browser plug-in to disable. So the problem is not the plug in.

BSCounty,

I didn't mention you have problems with Plugins. All I have to say is if you disable plugins within in browsers it will force PDF to download rather than opening them within browsers.

Have you tried repairing your installation (found under the "help" menu)?

It won't do anything for Chrome but may fix the other browser issues.
