How to permanently rotate pdf 90 deg?

Community Beginner ,
Jul 10, 2008 Jul 10, 2008
Whenever I open a certain pdf doc it is shown clockwise rotated by 90 deg.
Ok I can de-rotate it by clicking the appropriate menu in Adobe Reader.

But is there a way to save this pdf so that it is automatically shown correctly at next opening WITHOUT having to explicitely rotate it through AR menues?

If yes: How?

This cannot be done in Reader, only Acrobat Standard, Pro, or Extended.

Every time I use the ORGANIZE PAGES to do a simple rotate - Acrobat Adobe Reader DC takes me to a "purchase site". Before the recent upgrade, this was included in Reader. Please advise!

This has never been in Reader.

I will clarify. Reader has been able to rotate the view of pages, always.

But Reader has never been able to rotate, save and have it rotated for everyone.

Possibly, you had something more than Reader before.

Use the Rotate Pages command, not the simple Rotate View.

This is an Adobe forum, so mentions of other software products is not appropriate.

Except when other products are able to solve a problem that Adobe's software can't. This is basic functionality and should be part of Adobe Reader.

I believe Michael was refering to Adobe Acrobat Pro or Standard. So how would mentioning other Adobe products be inappropriate on an Adobe Forum?

I think the message was referring to a now-deleted post.

No need an Adobe Pro to do it. I solved this problem following:

1. Open the file, press Ctr + Shift + "+/-" to rotate the pages

2. Print to Pdf printer

NO!! Not recommended at all. Refrying a PDF (i.e., creating a new PDF by creating PostScript and distilling that back to PDF is a very lossy operation that removes hyperlinks, bookmarks, comments, transparency, color management, and perhaps full searchability.

Man that is annoying if adobe products do not solve a problem I expect Adobe to tell me about alternatives.  We pay an arm and a leg for this support it should be better than "sorry we don't support that"

Install a pdf file printer driver and print the rotated file to the "pdf" printer. It will ask you for a file name to "print" to. The "printed" file will open in the correct orientation.

This worked, thank you very much. This should be a standard feature in the reader application.

Perhaps it should, but Reader only exists as a teaser to sell Acrobat.

Absolutely, even the same icons are used! I guess 99% of the users want to rotate permanently the document.

I mean within Acrobat Pro the same icons are used in the "organize pages" section and the main menu. This causes distraction.

Aha! Yes, it's always been very confusing having rotate view and rotate pages. The icons used to be different, but that didn't really help. Rotate view is an important tool though - for example if the document is protected and cannot be edited.
