Is it free to edit pdf's in acrobat?

I am trying to edit a pdf using acrobat but it wont allow me it states charges, is there a free version I can use? sorry a bit thick

You need to distinguish between Acrobat and (Acrobat) Reader. The latter is free, but can't edit PDF files (beyond basic stuff like filling in form fields and adding comments). The former is not free, and it can create and edit PDF files.
