Linking to page on local PDF file on Reader

Hi, new to adobe reader.

During my studies, I need to write summerise to large books I view on PDF.

I like using links to refernce specific pages in my summery.
However i can't seem to be able to create a link to specific page, when using Acrobat-Reader.

For example, for file "example.pdf" (attached) saved in "C:\Users\Documents", the following file URL will open page 3 in Microsoft Edge: "file:\\\C:\Users\Documents\example.pdf#page=3",
but in reader will return:
"There was an error opening this document. The filename, directory name or volume lable is incorrect".
It seems Reader can't open file URLs, and path is not enough to link to page.
Anything i should do diffrently, or any known workaround?

Where does you use the link?

Zotero (In notes) & Word.
I checked again at Word, it does open the file but on the first page.

You would be able to do it if you had Acrobat.

I am sorry, I do not undearstand. I have Acrobat Reader DC installed (free version), and I'm trying to open the pdf using it, by URL. See attached video for example - notice how even through the link is to page 3, page 1 is opened (The file is the example file I posted in the original post).
Do you mean that if I had the paid version, it would have worked?

No, but you would have been able to create a type of link that will.

The link needs to have the "Go to a page view" action, instead of "Open a web-link". Then you would be able to link to a specific place in the target PDF file. Plus, it will be a relative link so will more likely still work on someone else's computer, if you send them both files.

Would such a link, after creation, will work for the free vesion as well?
If so, do you have an example of such a link?

You placed the links inside a pdf, as a "button" of sort.
Can I place the link outside a pdf? In the vidoe I sent you, I placed the link inside a word document.

This is what I have been trying to do with the "#page=3" in the file URL in the main post.
However, it seems that using such parameters works only in web URLs (http://), like in the examples in the link you sent.
It does work with shell cmd as well - but this is harder to embed in a word document (I think VBA would be the way?)

You can try this option:

<Acrobat path> /A "<parameter>=<value>" "<PDF path>"

This works, but only as a shell command (not as a URL).
I made a workaround using this option and VBA script (using the shell function), however I don't recommend this -  I think this have some security issues...

Also, you need to know the location of the executable on the user's computer, which isn't always possible...

I made this for my own use - I guess if there was a simple solution, such as just adding "#page=X" at the end of the file path (in file URL scheme, like in web URL), every user could have implanted it for themself...
