Hi Team,

I have created fillable forms using Acrobat Standard DC and enable to save forms by doing Save as Other -> Reader Extended Pdf -> Enable Forms- fill in & Save in Adobe Acrobat Reader.

I have shared these forms to fill in these forms and send us back but the problem is users are not able to save the original form instead they can save as other file.

This would be the problem and I can't say every one to disable enhanced security and is effecting our reputation. Can you help us on this?

Also if you can provide me steps to enable to display alert in the pdf form if it is not allow to save due to enhanced security settings.

Thanks in advance and would be helpful if any one help me on this at priority

Regards,

Jhony Shaik

Please describe the exact symptoms (messages in full) that your users see, and the exact software version (not "latest" please) and platform for each problem user.

There are no security settings that prevent saving by design.

Thanks for your response on this.

I have created survey forms using Adobe Acrobat Standard DC and have to send these to more than 20K users

Single user may have 30 - 40 survey forms to fill and users will have only Adobe Acrobat Reader installed to fill these forms

Problem is users are able to fill and complete the survey forms but not able to save the original survey form but prompts to Save as.

Considering 30 - 40 forms Save as is not the idle solution, so we have identified that after disabling the Enhanced security users can save the original form but problem is communicating to change to over 20K people is challenge hence looking for the solution for this. Can you please let me know how can we over come this problem without changing any settings to Adobe Acrobat Reader.

Hope I have cleared all you queries on my problem statement. Please help me on this

Regards,

Jhony Shaik

To me, the "save as" would make sense if the original is not on the local system.

"Y" drive is very often an optical drive, or a drive not normally connected to the system.

I may of course be completely wrong.....

Thank you for describing your software. This may be useful. Unforunately I don't think you have addressed any of my original questions.

* Please describe the exact symptoms (messages in full) that your users see

*and the exact software version (not "latest" please) and platform for each problem user (not yourself)

In addition, further questions:

* how EXACTLY do the users open these forms? For example, one way would be for them to get the file in email, save it to their desktop, start Reader and use File > Open.

* are your forms working any differently from any other forms at all? Please test with a random third party form and see if the problem is the same.

Really appreciate your quick response to my query

To make it clear

Case Study: We are using Pdf as part of our feedback system. Leads download the survey forms(compressed folder with multiple pdfs) from the website and extract to their local folder. Later they fill the pdfs and upload back to the website. We use Pdfs because we allow users to work offline as they have to fill more than 50 forms.

Solution: We created these forms using Adobe Acrobat Standard DC (Version details mentioned above in another reply) and made them to allow save by following the instructions provided in adobe forums.

File ->Save as Other -> Reader Extended Pdf -> Enabel Form Fills.....

Problem: Users not able to save the forms after they answer the questions instead it is asking to save as

Work Around: To made users to save the form instead of save as, they have to disable "Enable protected mode at start up"  from Adobe Acrobat reader.

We want permanent solution to not ask every user to make above setting to their Adobe Acrobat Reader.

Please call me if you need any more details on this issue

Please take care to answer all questions, thank you. For reference, I am still waiting for these answers:

* how EXACTLY do the users open these forms? For example, one way would be for them to get the file in email, save it to their desktop, start Reader and use File > Open. You say "work on these survey forms" but that doesn't tell us EXACTLY how the users open the forms. What you describe might be a fault or it might be normal, depending on your answer.

* are your forms working any differently from any other forms at all? Please test with a random third party form and see if the problem is the same.

Downloaded forms(They download from website and extract to their local folder) users open from windows explorer by double click on the file name

* are your forms working any differently from any other forms at all? Please test with a random third party form and see if the problem is the same.

Haven't try any third party forms and want to check the feasibility to check forms can be saved directly to their original form without disabling protection mode.

Is there any possibility to allow users to save the form by adding trust methods?
