Open PDF and it is too small

Participant ,

So i open PDFs and then it is always too small.

So i click settings and options my only option is to type in my name.  That doesnt help. Where can i get to actual settings?

So i have to move cursor all the way down to the right to click that ADD button.

Then the pdf shifts left and when i scroll down it re-aligns and is centered. weird.

How do i set this up so that the initial pdf isnt small and i dont have to go down to that plus sign to make it bigger every single time.

I enlarged the size and then did a SAVE AS and when i went back in , it was again, too small and i had to enlarge again. I cant save in the size i want? why is this so limited??

There are also issues once in a while where stuff gets jumbled, but that is rare.  Why is there no settings option to set things up as you want them??

Hi Gmoproa,

Sorry to hear your experience.

There is an option to change the settings as per your requirement which is limited to certain level.

For detailed description you may refer to the help documents where everything mentioned steps by step-

Viewing PDFs and viewing preferences, Adobe Acrobat

Adjusting PDF views

You may also check the Preferences>Document> Check"Restore last view settings when opening document" is selected.

So after making the changes (as suggested in the help doc) you need to close the app and when you open it next it would appear in same way you closed it.

Let us know if it still doesn't help you or this is not what you were referring to.

Thanks,

Akanchha

How do you get to this screen??

The preferences settings control how the application behaves whenever you use it; they are not associated with any particular PDF document. To access the preferences dialog, choose Edit > Preferences (Windows) or Acrobat / Adobe Acrobat Reader > Preferences (Mac OS).

There is no choice for Edit. please let me know.

Please provide instruction on setting the size of a pdf to open that way when i open it.

I know how to change the size, but it never stays that way. There is no preferences screen at all. There is no way to set anything.

So i went to the app and found the settings there.

Then i set Page Display to 200% to test this.

Then i downloaded a PDF and it was still same. Changing the page display did nothing.

How can i set it so that the PDF opens to a bigger zoom???? Please let me know.

ALso, in settings and display, i checked 'Always show document page size' and on the pdf i do not see anything about page size.

Need some answers on this. Nothing seems to work. i dont want to have to click that plus sign way down to bottom right every time i open or download a PDF. also tired of the pdf shifting left after i click the plus and then it coming back to center when i scroll down. Gets tiresome. Can anyone help me out here?

You still haven't answered my question... What EXACT version of Reader are you using?
Also, are you opening the file in Reader itself, or inside a browser window?

The document page size is shown at the bottom left corner of the file:

My home pc has Adobe Reader Touch. ..on windows 10.

It has no settings to manipulate. At work I have Adobe Reader XI. That has the settings and things to work with.

But even when I changed the settings on the display for Adobe Reader XI, it didn’t fix the issue. Still opens pdfs to a size I don’t want and I hav to go way down to that plus sign to enlarge..every..single…time and then scroll down to get it to align in center. So weird. Needs work.

In my test I downloaded the PDF.

Anyway, how do I change settings with the Adobe Reader Touch. Settings has nothing there? Options does nothing. Just can type in your name. And the Adobe Reader Touch selection is inactive. So how do I change any settings? Nothing works.

ok, on my work machine, i can open a pdf and see the similar layout, but it does not show page size where yours does even though i have show screen size selected in settings. I dont really want that anyway.

i want the zoom % and i see that.

the pdf i download must not be actually in the reader. those act strange.. even after i save them to pc.

how do i get those in the reader? there is no way to adjust settings on them.

ok, so the one i have at home, Acrobat Reader Lite. That doesnt seem to have any way to adjust settings i guess.

also, you didnt answer the question i asked...

after you download a pdf file from Internet to pc, how do you get it to open in Acrobat Reader. Do i need to open acrobat reader first, and then find the file?

Hi G. Moore,

I would like to mention Reader Touch is not recommended for Windows 10.

You may try installing Reader DC on your machine and that should work fine: Adobe Acrobat Reader DC Install for all versions

Let us know if you have further questions.
