Opening and saving PDF in multiple locations

I am looking for a solution to an error when attempting to save a PDF when it is open in another location on the same server.

I understand the purpose of not being able to save a PDF while it is open with a different user.  However, this is create great inefficiencies within my work to search and find who also has the PDF open at the same time. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated!

It should be possible to do it. What happens when you attempt to do so?

Also, what version of Reader are you using, and what OS?
