PDF Plan Error

When opening a PDF linked within an Excel workbook, we receive the following error intermittently:-

“Cannot extract the embedded font ‘CenturyGothic’. Some characters may not display properly.”

This happens for multiple fonts despite them being installed. We have also found that this issue appears to be worse when using Adobe Reader DC.

The issue does not occur when opening the same PDF’s directly.

Any help gratefully received.

We should need to know if the linked PDF file is opened with Acrobat. How are you confident that Acrobat and not a browser like Edge is used?

Would it be possible to share a file with us? Please ensure that you do not include private data. Best would be to create dummy files especially for this aim.

(I will move this thread from Enterprise & Teams to the Acrobat Reader forum)

The PDF’s are opening in Adobe Reader DC, see amended screenshot, showing the top bar. We have had to blank out the content as its sensitive Data. For that reason we are unable to provide an example file.

We are also unable to replicate as these are complex documents, the issue does not occur with a basic PDF linked from Excel. Again these PDF documents do not throw up an error when opened directly, it only occurs when opening via a link in Excel.
