'Poster' option is greyed out in Acrobat Reader (Build: 23.6.20320.0) on macOS Sonoma

New Here ,

As the title reads, I'm baffled to find the 'Poster' print option being greyed out in Acrobat Reader (Build: 23.6.20320.0) on macOS Sonoma. It was available on Ventura because I'd taken printouts a few days ago. Moreover, the 'Advanced Print Setup' has also completely greyed out too. So far I've deleted/moved the preferences file but still there's no change in the status quo. Could someone help me out please? Is this a result of a bug in macOS Sonoma? I'd really appreciate your reponses.

Thanks.

Hi Bhoosh,
This is due to deprecation of PSNormalizer tool from macOS Sonoma onwards, Currently Print as Image is only supported in Reader.
Poster button is grayed out as Poster Printing was never supported in case of print as image.

Thanks

All documents were printing as image. Even changing and turning off the option "print as image"  in advanced print options..

I've removed and installed and old version of Adobe Reader .

My system MacOS Sonoma , I've download adobe version before sonoma.
Now it's working.

Adobe is respecting my printer options correctly

Hi, Manuel !
Thanks for your help ! I try this solution but I could fix the problem.

Can you actually print your document ?

At first sight, it seems to work but, when I try to print it, two windows pop up saying :

1) it's impossible to print ;

2) that the document to be printed is not selected.

If it work for some us, I'm glad though. Thank you very much for your time.

After downgrade my Adobe Reader version, I can print perfectly.
My Mac is Sonoma 14.0

I think is better for you to remove first adobe completely from your computer.
After that try to reinstall it with the old version.

This is the steps to perform a clean remove

1) Download , install and run this tool from Adobe to remove Adobe reader:
https://www.adobe.com/devnet-docs/acrobatetk/tools/Labs/AcroCleanerMac.dmg

2) Also is better to remove old preferences to avoid cache
From command line in you terminal app (Applications > Utilities > Terminal)  execute:

# cd ~/Library/Preferences

# rm -fr com.adobe.*

3) Download the old version

https://get.adobe.com/br/reader/otherversions/
Mac OS 10.14

Reader 2022.001.20112 for Mac

Let me know if works for you.

Regards

Manuel Pardo

Thank you very much for those steps.

I have just followed your advice but unfortunately I have got the same messages at the end. I still cannot print tile document.

My Mac is Sonoma 14.2.1. Hence the difference maybe ?

I really don't know.
I won't update my system for now.....I will update close to 20 april, because I'm in the middle of some projects.
In this meanwhile maybe someone here in community could try if it works under Sonoma 14.2 and tell us

Thanks so much for the workaround, it didn't work for me either.  Went through the process and when I tried to print poster at 120%I received an error message that the document couldn't be printed and that no pages were selected, even through there were.   I couldn't even print normal size until I went into the advanced setting and checked the "print as image."  I so appreciate you trying to help.

In newest release using MacOS Sonoma You're not able to print from Acrobat unless you select print as image. If you select print as image, you can't select poster mode. Adobe software is in a tailspin for actual professionals who don't care about generative AI.

There is no "fix" for this on MacOs 15+ that works with Adobe Reader.  Download Foxit Reader, which has the option "Tile large pages" along with a "cut marks" option.  I doubt this comment will be allowed, but this is my workaround.

The problem is that Adobe is not shipping a valid library (or component) that works on newer ARM devices. The solution (that I have found so far) is to run Adobe in "Rosetta" mode, basically emulating old x86 in your Apple Silicon device. Go to Applications, right click on Adobe then "Get Info". Check "Open with Rosetta". Restart Adobe, now you should be able to print as poster.

Adobe: get your /act/ together and fix this! No one is using x86 apple devices anymore.

Thank you so much for the fix, as it worked perfectly.  I no longer use Adobe. I switched to another PDF program when this problem arose and never went back, but it's good to know that your solution worked.  Thank you again!

As a Mac user this is why I cannot purchase use to anything Adobe. a paid program like this is not elite if its basic features cannot be used by MAC devices.
